I mean that’s great, but he’s been here 8 years. He couldn’t help the QB’s or the offense as a whole then? The TE’s didn’t produce shite in the last 8 years.

So he was a solid offensive coach that we paid not to coach? What is this?

I wanted another OC but maybe, just maybe, the old head coach didn't want him to coach the QB's or want his input on offense. Maybe he was more valued as a recruiter by that head coach.

Who knew LSU's 59 year old tight end coach would emerge as the hottest name for OC.

When was he QB coach?

When did the TEs have a chance to produce? Wouldn't they have had to get a few balls thrown their way? Even when they did, they were used to blocking, not catching.

Do you have any idea what he tried to do or was allowed to do behind the scenes? Did it even begin to occur to you that the offensive coordinators just accidentally might have dictated what he could do to help the offense?

Was he asked to develop QBs ?

Ok I’m convinced. I totally expect a drastic improvement on offense next year now.
And there shouldn’t be any excuses if he doesn’t deliver in an obvious way

I can't wait for the drastic improvement that will surely come next fall. Orgeron finally got rid of that damn Canada guy that he was pressured into hiring and got the guy he wanted all along. Coach told us we are gonna get the offense we've all been asking for...and I know coach wouldn't lie to us.

Can't wait to see this dynamic offense debut in the spring!!

Fat chance of this happening.

I'm just trying to figure out whose fault it will be when it's apparent that Ensminger's not some secret weapon. I anticipate the blame will be dropped on some combination of Canada, Miles, the refs and the SEC headquarters.

Ok. Why hasn't Saban pursued Steve E for the OC position then?

Whether you put any stock in what Tubberville says, this is the most encouraging statement:

quote:

“He knows pass protections,” Tuberville noted. “Some of these spread teams only know run protections. He can run that stuff, but I’m sure he wants to take that to another level, which you have to in the SEC. You better be physical. A lot of guys running spread are one-dimensional.”

And then there’s training the quarterbacks themselves.

“You can’t find QB coaches that coach technique,” Tuberville said. “With a lot of spread offenses, there’s no footwork, not a lot of timing. It’s amazing how these schools get by. There will be technique at LSU, I promise you, and it’ll make the quarterback better. He’s great at fundamentals.”

So what stopped him from hiring him away to be his OC all these years while he was our lowly TE's coach?

Oh right...Steve had no desire to be the OC at Alabama. He COULD have been...just didn't want to.

Seriously...frick Tuberville. I sort of quit hating him a few years ago, but if he feels the need to keep stepping into this then he can gladly go frick himself with a chainsaw again.

Tuberville thought so highly of his ability to coach QBs that he let him do it one year and then immediately made a change.

I’m sure that makes perfect sense to a certain portion of the posters here.

If Saban wanted SE then he would already have him.

Maybe. Maybe not. Tuberville is good coach. What's his record against Saban?
