Another season is in the books. The Astros stumbled their way to a thoroughly mediocre 81–81 record and, because the AL West is apparently unserious, somehow still walked away with the division title.
There are plenty of uncertainties heading into the offseason, including — but certainly not limited to — the direction of the front office, a lame-duck manager, an overcrowded infield, an underdeveloped outfield, potential contract extensions, and, of course, the looming lockout.

I’m thankful for not having to watch Espada manage this team again.

I have a simple litmus test I'm using to decide how to feel about this offseason...
If Peña is traded or extended, I'm taking that as a sign that a competent executive is in charge and that person has a plan. I may or may not agree with their approach, but at least a plan exists.
If Peña just plays out the last year of his deal and hits FA, I'm taking that as a sign that Cranewell Inc. is still calling the shots. In that case, we're all just wasting our time.

Are your options truly mutually exclusive though?
I think not.

Is it wrong that I think between Hayden, Pecko, and Lambert there could be couple of long term middle of the rotation guys?

I'm expecting Ausmus to be named as GM and Omar Lopez promoted to manager.
Outside shot of Morgan Ensberg as manager if they want to go "outside" the organization

Don’t romanticize it, final record was 81-83.

Trade assets: Pena, Brown, Hader, Parades, Diaz, Yed
At least 3, if not 4, of those need to be dealt if this franchise is serious about competing.

Won't be a good offseason, but will certainly be an interesting one nonetheless. Pretty much because of the fellow DAT baws who will at least keep me entertained. It won't be because of the Astro offseason moves I'll tell you that.

In house you gotta hope Javier and Blanco get healthy and to old form.
