False. My daughter was 3 when she went to her first game (OU playoff game 2019 ini atl) and she has memories of the game and that trip.

ETA It was a full day of tailgating and what not. I was able to work in a nap in our seats about an hour before kickoff, and she was great the whole day otherwise. This board's fascination with thinking young kids can't go to games is stupid.

This year I plan to take my 3 year old to his first LSU home game. Plan to do the “full day” like I am a kid again—- his cousin’s fraternity tailgate, Victory Hill, Mike’s habitat, etc.

Opinions sought:

1. South stadium club? Figured he could engorge himself on free food, ice cream, and have a place to run around when the toddler comes out in him.

2. “Good game” or terrible non-conference? Don’t want to be “that guy” with a screaming little in the 4th quarter of a meaningful game.

3. Any tips?

Advice from the dad of two boys 12 years apart so I've had to deal with this twice:

Don't do this. Is this game for you or him. If for you, then leave him at home.

He is 3. He won't remember this and will only care about the stimulation of the game for a little while. Do whatever it takes to entertain him but don't make it an all day event unless you want the both of you to be completely miserable. Go to a bad game. Bring headphones in case the noise is too loud.

Personally, I would wait till he is older and take him to a game he will always remember.

I don't even like taking my 14 year old to my fraternity events.

An LSU football game is one of the few places where this is a non-issue lol. People will be too busy screaming themselves to notice.

When my kid was a toddler the roar of the crowd freaked him out. My advice, go to a crappy game with less noise. If you don’t have tickets yet, try to get near the aisle.

Exactly! A 3 yr old will be out like a light 3 hrs after you show up. As you said, he wont remember anything and will get a crabby as can be by evening.

I took my son when he was 6-7 yrs old. Everybody stood all game and he could not see anything. Also he did not know anything about the game of football so he was pretty disinterested. FF 20 yrs and he is a big fan and a big Fantasy league player keeping up with everything.

I love my 3 year old but she would not last at a football game. She doesn't keep still long enough for me to brave TS.

I brought mine to their first game last year. We went to the Texas A&M game and had a great time but did not last past halftime. So my suggestions are below:

1. Get tickets in Skyline Club - Free Food for the entire game. Easy to go grab cookies and chips without having to spend $300 on food.

2. Pick a game that is as early as possible. They will be tired regardless so they won't last an entire day of tailgating and then a game at 6pm.

3. Expect to leave early. We did this and so when they had enough it wasnt a big deal to leave even though it was much earlier than I ever would when I go without them.

4. Go into the game late This was our biggest mistake. We went into the game an hour early and the kids were good until the middle of 2nd quarter when they started getting restless. If we had waited even just to go to our seats right before kick off they would have lasted longer.

5. They won't remember it but you will: Just remember that they aren't going to remember much of this experience. It's more about you sharing your passion with them and for your memories. If you go into it with that mentality as opposed to your normal fandom experience then you will have a great time no matter what.

The stadium club is not for your toddler to run around in.

Nichols or South Alabama would be a good game to introduce him to LSU football

3 year old won’t make it all day. I’d shorten it to a few hours.

With the current "Deemphasis" of Tiger Band during the actual game, I'm surprised these evil MF'ers in the Athletic Department haven't eliminated this popular ritual.

Shite, just put the DJ Devil in the back of a pick-up truck and let him blast his crap "Coming down the Hill."

LSU is also the only school in the SEC that doesn't bring their FULL BAND to at least one SEC away game.

Thank You LSUAD Devils.

3 is too young IMO. I have a 3 and 4 year old that I'm waiting 2 more years. They are too young to remember anything about it. Took my oldest (9 now) when she was 3 and she doesn't remember even going. Sure, she had fun watching the cheerleaders and sticking her head in a popcorn bucket but that was it.

I want to take them so bad but I also want them to remember their first time.

South Stadium club would be perfect. I have had season tickets there for both my kids their whole life. You can bring a stroller inside the club and park it at the info desk or stash it in a corner. The kid will love the ice cream sundae station. Staff is nice and the people are nice. Note: the South club clientele is vastly different from the West. The West is older and full of old money and you will be challenged moving a stroller around from floor to floor. The south club is all on one floor, is younger, and full of families with small kids running around and being goofy.

You can balance out the game experience with comfort of the child freaks out in the stands.

They have two family restrooms.

Highly recommend.

Also, to the people who think it’s a bad idea. Both of my kids are LSU nuts and love the games. They went to them starting at 3 months old. It is now a way of life for them, and they can’t imagine not being in TS on Saturdays. To the OP, you are a dad so putting the priority of watching the game over entertaining the kid is not a good idea. When you go, expect to miss a good portion of the game, and expect to give the child extra attention in the stands. You are not doing this for you, you are doing this for them.

As far as the games, I would start at a rent a win or a low tier SEC game.

I took mine really early, and it was ok. Lots of pics, etc. But when the oldest was 10 and the younger 8 we were at the Georgia game in 2018. man did the spark turn on in that setting. They loved it, the noise, the excitement....it was awesome.

Would not do football with a toddler. Basketball? Sure.

The first game I actually have memories of going to were in 98 LSU vs Mississippi St. I remember watching Kevin Faulk. I was 5 at the time.
