This.

It's the equivalent of piping in noise through the speakers to attempt to distract the offense.

NEWSFLASH: There was a time, not so long ago, where admitting that we had the band play noise to make it louder in Tiger Stadium or an away stadium would have been incredibly embarrassing. In fact, had someone accused LSU of doing this we'd have recoiled at the idea that we needed it.

Is the OP suggesting we NEED to play noise?

As simply as I can say it, that noise they make to purposefully be annoying is beneath the status and pageantry of Tiger Band. Unfortunately, the current leadership isn't professional enough to realize it.

No, this has an impact on you, as a moron, not on the players on the field.

This is 100% not true. You could make an argument that the stupid piped in music has 'very little influence' but the Tiger Band fires everyone up.

I swear I don't understand the desire for our administration in the past to have decided to go this route. One of the greatest things about college football is how different each home field is, and the traditions that set them each apart from one another.

Why in the holy hell would you purposefully homogenize your own game day atmosphere in favor of tossing in a Jock Jams CD?

Personally, I think the administration was probably trying to respond to attendance problems, leaving early and things like that...

...I can just imagine, some 'Stadium Sound' salesman comes in and pitches to our AD (who is not a Tiger traditionalist) that 'he's got just the thing'...

Now, we jump up ready for the band and a chant - Au contraire!, it's some blaring rap song. So we sit right back down and look around.

I agree...

For those of you that still don’t understand....maybe a basketball analogy will help:

Have you ever seen those annoying balloons that fans put up behind the basket while the other team is shooting free throws? Well the annoying music is a distraction...an auditory distraction....

Or how about a baseball analogy:

Ever head a fan chant...batter, batter, batter swing to annoy the heck out of the batter.....

Well that is what the band is doing....I totally understood this the very first time I heard the band do this....wake up....geeez

Sometimes I feel as though I’m surrounded by idiots....

I think you are the one not getting it. Everyone understands the point of the noise.

Most think that when you’re annoying your own fan base and causing people to mute their TV’s, though, it’s time to give it up.

It doesn’t annoy me....I understand the reason for it and I welcome it...

Next thing you know, fans will want other fans to stop yelling loud when the other team is on offense because it “annoys” them....or hurts their ears....

The music is our equivalent to the Vanderbilt whistler. We want it to get into the heads of our opponent. Right now it is exclusively ours and we need to continue.

The other team doesnt notice the freaking band. It only is annoying the fans

correct. When the game is going on, the players are focused and generally tune out everything else.

Now yes, the volume of noise can make calling signals at the LOS difficult, but other than that, it has no impact, other than for the fans.

I am not for annoying the other team if I get annoyed in the process.
