Did he lose to them? Answer no.

Speaking of deflections.

Because we got rid of the problem, right? Tahts what you all the fire Miles types said, right? He was what was holding us back. Are you changing your tune?

Did you think we had the talent at QB, WR, OL to win the SEC this year? Honest question.

“ Rome wasn’t built in a day”

With all due respect to coach O, he doesn’t have to rebuild anything or build anything. And I’m not expecting him to build Rome, but is expecting him to not suffer our worst loss to Mississippi State in our history and expecting him not to lose to Sunbelt Troy asking too much???

If you expect LSU to be in the top 10 at the end of the year, knock yourself out. I hope you’re right. It’s about time we got back there.

That has zero relevance in the discussion I was having, but sure why not. We won the SEC with JL/JJ as QB, and had a retard as head coach that was just holding us back.

Your logic is narrow minded. Staying competitive is tough. Remember Tennessee had much more success than us for the last 30 years. Florida was once invincible, and the other schools you reference have had success and with ATM, relieves Equal to ours. We also beat Auburn whicch has been competitive for most of the last 3 decades . We are the third best team in the SEC this year, and will get better.

and touting this as a sign that O has the team trending up...

whens the last time LSU faced 5 teams that are all likely replacing coaches?

mcelwain has already been fired, and ole miss, arky, UT, and aTm are almost certainly replacing coaches.

depending on how the season finishes out you may add gus to that list as well.

This is the new standard in the SEC. You lose to O you get fired.

But really, who cares. Solid first season.

I do expect us to win out. 3 games were we will likely be favored by double digits in all of them and that would lead to either a Cotton or Citrus appearance where I would expect to win that as well. Where are your 'goal posts' if you don't expect that?

I am absolutely on board that it is inexcusable to lost to Mississippi State and certainly Troy. Not once in any of my posts have I said anything about it being ok to lose either of those games. But to go from that point to how much better the team is playing now is nearly unfathomable. That is all I've been trying to say...

And to the rebuilding point, this roster was severely lacking in upperclassmen experience and talent outside of Guice, Key, and Chark to an extent. That will happen when your juniors stay after 2015 and then the juniors of 2016 (pivotal pieces of an amazing recruiting class) bolt for the NFL.

We had an X-factor that season though. Mathieu can be credited with the Oregon, Arkansas and Georgia wins on special teams plays. There is no one on this team that has anywhere close to that impact. Matthieu had 2 INTs, 6 FF, 4 return TDs. He averaged 15.6 yards per punt return. That defense forced 32 turnovers. So far the 2017 team has generated 11. That's really the only knock on Aranda. His defense doesn't get turnovers despite how well they play. In 2016 they got 16 total turnovers. That made a huge impact on the 2011 offense with short fields.

No he didn't lose. that doesn't mean he shouldn't have.

Who gets that far behind a terrible Troy team at home?

You want to do this for games that he "should" have won too?

Someone that was capable of come back and winning. Who actually loses to them?

Do you really think you're making any kind of point?

Kinda like he did in 05 when UT cornholed us at home after blowing a huge lead?

Saban < UAB remember that game? All coaches lose games they shouldn't.

Miles lost more than his share of games to inferior opponents...don't act like he didn't and he damned near gave away another big handful with his incompetence with the clock and other bone-headed decisions.

I love that this thread has gone on for 12 pages, so far. It shows the passion around LSU football. I was not happy with the O hire and especially the way our so-called AD handled the hire. I am still fuming about that. But...(here is my big but, and as Jerry Rubin said in "Pee Wee's Big Adventure", everybody's got a big but), But, I am an LSU fan, not an Ed Ogeron fan, so I will be pulling for O to do an outstanding job in the future. What choice do we have? Hope that he does terrible to confirm that he was a bad hire? I guess that is a choice if you think he is so bad that the sooner he fails, the sooner we get a good coach. But think of how that would set the program back for years. The best hope going forward is that O is not as bad of a hire than we think he is and that he will be the coach that so many fans at USC wanted to keep. Pull for O to be that coach and if it is proven that he isn't, then we doubters will be proven right. Thanks to our so-called AD (don't even like to mention his name) the buyout to be shed of O is prohibitive of his being replaced anytime soon. So I guess your outlook depends on if you are a half-full or half-empty glass kind of guy. I'm hoping against hope that O keeps recruiting well, keeps good coordinators and position coaches, keeps the players motivated, continues to show good game-management skills, and keeps building the program up in the future. In short, I hope I am wrong about Coach O. But.....I will keep supporting our young men who wear the purple and gold no matter who the coach is. My $.02 and I now relinquish the soapbox.

No extenuating circumstances with that game huh? You are such a clown.

Using this in defense of O should be bannable offense at this point.

Excuses..........

I'll move on from Miles if the haters will at least give O a chance to turn this thing around.

Deal??

If ANY...and I mean ANY...other coach was hired after Miles and had the same exact record as CEO....y'all would be saying...give them a chance to implement their system and get their people in here.
But because the hiring process was a cluster frick and we ended up with an Ol Miss reject with a losing record that nobody wanted....everybody wants to say....WIN NOW!
Sorry...thats not a fair standard.

Better than anything you can come up with in defense of O's terrible losses.

I gave O a chance. Then we lost to State and Troy and have the fanbase cheering for a 2 TD loss.

We didn't hire someone to rebuild. The standard should absolutely be win now.
