So 2-3 years is a decline??
It's actually four years, but don't let facts get in the way of a good argument.
2011: 8-0
2012: 6-2
2013: 5-3
2014: 4-4
2015: 4-3 (three embarrassing loses, all in the West)

You sound like the guy who holds a stock all the way to bankruptcy because you have the faith that the leaders can turn it around if they just get a little more time...
You sound like the guy who bought at the top and sells at the bottom. 15 million is a lot of money, and will be a huge burden on TAF, regardless of having the money to do it.
Again, the point is, there is a very low chance a new coach next year will have the success that is expected.

Would rather take that chance, because on Miles' current track, there is very little chance this team will live up to expectations next year with him as well.

When you fire your coach, that rarely ever means your program is immediately going to be successful and have fantastic seasons in the following couple years.
But it does happen, like Florida this year.
It's a roll of the dice and can go either way.

Les is a great man, but the time has come for him to go.

I'll support LSU either way, but this board is delusional if the expectation is to hire Jimbo and win a national championship next year.
Not to mention, people already complain ticket prices are too high, having to pay for tailgating, parking, etc. that shite is only going up after we fork over 15 (likely 20 after all the assistants and coordinators are account for) million.
And, I seem to remember the board crucifying Alleva for being "cheap" in the past. What's the response going to be when he hires a guy for $3 million? The fact that the board thinks we are going to pay Les' buyout and then pony up $6 million + on a coach is a stretch.

Well if it's easy to hire a homerun guy at the snap of a finger, we should be able to do it next year with minimal damage I'd think.

Fixed it:
2011: 8-0 (After 1/9/12 - next year)
2012: 6-2 Next year
2013: 5-3 Next year
2014: 4-4 Next year
2015: 4-3 (three embarrassing loses, all in the West) This is it we promise we are young, things will change, best recruits ever, don't let the arse rapes by Bama, Arky & Ole Piss fool you.... NEXT YEAR

To the "the sky will fall if we fire Miles" crowd.
I'd rather be raked over coals than be the laughing stock we currently are with our grass eating, nose picking, ear digging, clock-challenged, boneheaded coach.

$15 MM is a lot of money, but why do you think TAF will be the only check writer? Also, you don't that they'll be writing one $15 MM check do you?

I disagree with "low"chance.
I think, given the right coach, they can certainly improve over this year.

we will get killed for the buyout but that will come from people that don't know the specifics that LSU sports supports itself entirely.

You just touched on the problem that I see with a coaching change. Orgeron, Wilson and a couple other great coaches and fantastic recruiters could be effected.
Posted on 11/22/15 at 7:32 pm to TigerDeBaiter
quote:Exactly. Thank goodness Miles has this program in such sad shape that national championship talk is totally out of the question next year no matter who the coach is. However, it would not be unreasonable to expect LSU to have a passing attack that ranks better than 105th. Baby steps at first.
this board is delusional if the expectation is to hire Jimbo and win a national championship next year.
quote:The Advocate says its $12.9 million for Les on Jan.1, $2 million for the assistants, and that the money for the assistants is already in the budget. I trust The Advocate more than I trust you. Also, the SEC brought in an NCAA record $455 million last year, a good bit more than the $309 million it made in 2014. The athletic department seems to know what they are doing here.
Not to mention, people already complain ticket prices are too high, having to pay for tailgating, parking, etc. that shite is only going up after we fork over 15 (likely 20 after all the assistants and coordinators are account for) million.

Oh, 'cause earlier you said that TAF would pay it, so I guess it's really not as bad as you think for TAF, right?

I'm not sure where you're going with this? TAF=boosters. Same difference

Not exactly...
One is a private group, and the other could be a private individual.
My point is that TAF likely would not be the only check writers here, their would likely be some individual donors, as well.
