Only as good as the weakest link... It won't matter how good Canada and Aranda are if the captain doesn't keep the ship on course.
It can of course happen but don't count your rings yet baw

We'd be even better off going into this next season with the new OC, DC returning, and a new head coach that wasn't Ed Orgeron.

there are many reasons why we fired Miles, but ultimately it came down to not winning enough
Miles could have ran the exact same offense as always this year, and if we were heading to the playoffs right now, he would still be the coach

Just because I think a quick hire of O was stupid and lazy doesn't mean I want Miles back. I've wanted him gone for at least 2 years. Just think we were at a cross roads, make LSU a permanent national contender or settle for a top middle of the pack SEC team. I think the hire of O is that later of those two.
Even with good coordinators, O's ceiling will be 6-2 in the SEC. That won't get us to Atlanta anytime soon.

Let's just give O a chance to establish a record at LSU. You used to shite in your pants. I'm assuming you don't do that anymore, right? Should we define you for being a pants shitter and bed wetter? I think not.

nobody "hates" O.
I wasn't in favor of his hiring, but there's nothing for me to "hate" about the guy. I just didn't think he was qualified to be our HC.
Stop using "hate" to describe the legitimate concerns of fans that think O wasn't the right choice.

He has made some good moves and he has bungled some moves to this point. None of this means success on the field at this point. We shall see. There is reason for optimism and also reasons for skepticism.

I don't think there are a lot of people knocking our door down to be head coach. I also don't believe we made an exhaustive search.
Jimbo Fisher was never coming here. I feel like he played us.
Herman was never coming here because his dream job was in Texas. So ask yourself do we want somebody as temporary coach.
I think all that we're saying is we have to give this guy a chance and support until he doesn't deserve it any longer.

how do you know this?
I dont....but Id rather roll the dice with a coach who is known to let his coaches coach rather than stick with a blockhead who cant even spell the word adapt.

LSU or coach O I should say has hit a homerun. They have two excellent young coordinators that will get the best finally out of that great talent that LSU always has. A lot of people will have doubts about the HC because the country will probably think of him as a Cajun version of Les Miles, but he has done a great job in maintaining the staff and hiring these two guys. Now if only he can get back the talent that Alabama or Saban keeps stealing out of LA because if you wanna win you can't let guys like Moses, Allen, Buggs and whoever else may be jumping ship to go to Alabama. That's just unacceptable.

Curly Hallman won more SEC games 3/4 years here than Oregeron did in 3 seasons combined.
Yet without coaching a full season, Orgeron has already won as many games in a single season as Hallman did in any full season as HC of LSU. Orgeron has also won more SEC games in a single season than Hallman (again, without being HC the entire season). Orgeron will also be coaching a bowl game for LSU-- How many times did Hallman do that?
Based on any single season as HC of LSU, Hallman was worse. If you can recall a game you watched with Hallman as HC, you'd know this is no comparison.
By the way-- Hallman came to LSU from Southern Miss with a much better record than Orgeron's at Ole Miss.
To the point: Do you honestly believe Orgeron is going to be a worse HC at LSU than Hallman was? Does anybody?
Just sayin'.

quote:maybe? Based on his actual résumé as an actual head coach, he's a much worse hire than Hallman was. Based on history, it would be surprising if he is NOT worse than Hallman when we end up firing him.

ETA: and that's the issue. We are rolling the dice with a proven failure. We could've hired the current 10-30 best coaches in the country, paid them less than Orgeron, and they have all proven to be better. Orgeron is a wish and a prayer.

Don't think so....stubbornness maybe, out of touch with today's offenses yes.
But not for winning 10 games a year.

what?
that isn't being obtuse
that main reason Miles was fired was wins vs losses
last year showed that 10 wins was not good enough anymore

so this is how y'all lower expectations for O, eh?

Actually no...
I personally think the gauge is are we getting better and is the talent on hand being used and coached to its potential.
The wins will come.....its a process.

How can you reasonably have any real expectations with 3 relatively brand new coaches? I mean seriously?
How can you apply the same standard to O in (full) year one as you did to Miles in year 11?
It doesnt make sense.
