It's not that the student section needs to be less rowdy. For God's sake, if that happened it would be so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
It's a whole bunch of things:
Students bailing at halftime by the dozens
More willing to shock the world by dropping a 4 letter word than being loud on defense
When the 4 letter word is getting songs banned, instead of being an adult about it and stop doing it, they respond the same way a couple of bad 7 year olds would respond when the teacher tells them to stop - they do it even more
Volume is weak when the opponent is in the north end zone. Past student sections took over and made it miserable. Now it's just a continuation of the entire weak stadium when it comes to noise.
What happened to the balls to the wall frenzy celebration when LSU scores or makes a big stop?
Starting the wave while LSU is on offense. Starting the wave period for that matter. May as well start up 2 bits cheer as well.
Just man up and admit that the current student section is weak as frick.

And whether you admit it or not, the student section has been pathetic. Saturday was the weakest crowd I've ever been a part of, which is made even worse by the fact that it was a big SEC game.

Agreed. During the Hallman years (90-94), there wasn't much to cheer about, but I've never seen a more lame student section than there is now.

I don't see the appeal of STTDB either and can't believe it caught on.
When I was a senior some jackasses, who always sat near me, tried to add "and beat the shite outta em" to the end of the first down cheer. Thank God that never caught on.

this thread is turning into posters telling when they were in school and how much better it was then. the student section was great from 1900 up until they graduated and then it began to "go downhill"

see, that is the point. the current students put on their best Miley Cyrus act while dismissing the "old folks" when many, MANY critics are within 10 years removed.
