If JJ isn't on the team we don't win 9-6 and make it to New Orleans... Catch 22.
No way to know that for certain, in a game that close, anything could have happened if Lee stayed in. The fact is, Lee played poorly, once, and basically never saw the field again the rest of the freaking season. That's not a rational decision, that's an emotional one rooted in too much loyalty to another player.

If the players don't consider a coach someone they can go to then they wouldn't be at any given school. Nothing wrong with Miles being liked. I don't see how players have taken advantage of him at all.

No he was flustered from the start. I agree he should not have been benched the rest of the year though. I'm just glad they are both gone for good, such a wasted 4 years.

Dear god can we keep the Lee/JJ NCG game discussion out of here. This thread is ridiculous enough already. Why can't lsu fans let this die.

You don't think RP, JJ, and TM7 took advantage of Miles' trust? He gave them chance after chance and they kept doing what they wanted to do.
He may take certain kids as personal projects and even tell their families as much and that's fine but if these players are going to act like kids, he should TREAT them like kids and be consistent in his discipline and discipline them when they need it, not when he is pressured to.

Miles didn't have a choice.
He needs a legitimate excuse for blowing another national championship year.

Correct. This is my knock on Miles. He needs to be stronger before everyone else has to FORCE him to do something. IMO RP should have been gone long before he was. JJ should have been suspended for the whole season.

But to be fair, He has known the rules for a while now and could have found some help before THIS event happened.I think the WHOLE HONEY
To be fair, substance abuse is not an easy thing for some to overcome, especially depending on what type it is.
I just hope he doesn't lose everything before he decides to change.

Funny thing is that HB held himself and his fellow DB's to a very high standard, at least on the field...

that's why its really really stupid to kick somebody off the team for marijuana. Everyone should be able to smoke that IMO. The rules suck

So RP, a guy that started one(?) game took advantage of Miles? C'mon man. And you act like you know how and when Miles disciplines them. None of us do. Miles could have rode TM and rode him and rode him and we would never know. Whatever the discipline, TM apparently didn't care and there is only so much a coach can do. Players have a responsibly themselves too. If me and you are Heisman finalists, do you think we would need to be told not to smoke weed and not know the consequences, much less if we had already been suspended. You better believe I'm not touching it again. For all we know every coach on the roster could have tried to keep him straight. He just didn't listen.

I think it comes down to Miles' fatal flaw. He's TOO loyal. That manifests itself in times like this, or games like last year's SEC champ/NC, or all of 2009.
It's easy for you to say that since you're not in his shoes. Perhaps he doesn't he feels it's important not to give up on some kids so easily. There's no telling how many kids stayed and thrived because Miles didn't give up on them.

Uh......yeah

Add to that the fact RP was being "protected" by the program when he was acting retarded and you get a double whammy. For instance, ask the owner of Kona grill if he didn't get a "call" after after the fiasco with RP back in 2008.

I'm thinking the last thing Les wants to do is blow NC or find an excuse to do so.
