do you actually think (at full speed) he could be so precise to get his arm between the bottom of his facemask and above the level of his shoulder pads?
you clowns amaze me.
I will never condone dirty play. This was not even close. If you argue this fact, you are plain stupid.

I call it like I see it.

there was no intent to injure there
TM7 lost his compusure and made a stupid selfish play. Luckily for him he got away with it. Please don't excuse such a bush league play. He needs to be better than that. I know how pissed you can get on the field - especially if someone else is cheap shotting you - maybe that happened to him on a play we didn't see, I don't know. Regardless, he's a leader, he needs to act like one.

Did you not see the pic on the first page?

I was more upset with the fact that #21 got off the ground...I was hoping for a true knockout punch

Hate to break the news but a clothesline from behind is not a standard holding penalty. This was a strange move by TM7, quite odd.

it isn't across his throat. where on earth do u see it across his throat. he's also trailing the guy.. not much room to clothesline.
i can't believe people have their panties in a whod over this.
There are plays that the opposing teams players do that I dislike but I'm not up in arms over it. This has nothing to do with being an LSU fan. I would rip him if he did something unsportsmanlike or malicious. He made bad a play on special teams.. I would definitely get over it if Bama had done the same. I would actually probably prefer that penalty in the game if anything. It is ashame he was hurt on his landing while crying for a flag..

What a bunch of pussies on this thread...Kirkpatrick made a beautiful soccer dive that resulted in him hitting his head on the grass - with a helmet on. I guess no one else noticed all of the late hits he had out of bounds earlier or the mugging on RR on what would have been a TD. Kirkpatrick got what he deserved and it wasn't even that bad.

I dont think they will ever get it man. thanks for the pics.

"clotheslining a player across the throat"
This is the main problem. Everyone describing that as a "clothesline" or even a "hit" are way off base. Watch the video ( LINK ), they display multiple slow-mo angles. He VERY CLEARLY GRABS AND PULLS Kirkpatrick, which is very clearly defined in the rules as HOLDING, a penalty for which NO ONE GETS EJECTED. This shouldn't even be a debate. There's video evidence, there's a rulebook, watch it, read it, and shut up; because you don't have a leg to stand on.

For real, no worse than spearing Shep with a ref looking at it or the OOB hits. Maybe he just had a bait of seeing his team mates take illegal hits and Bama get away with it.You take what the refs let you get away with at this level or you get run over. It looked worse than it actually was.

No, they will not. It is like arguing religion with someone. They believe what they want to believe and no amount of proof can change it.

There is not doubt on my mind that the Alabama player was faking the severity of the injury. At best, TM7 spun him around too quickly. This was about as gruesome of a hit as my 82 year old grandmother could have put on Chuck Norris to try and injury him. Get a life people.

What would you have said if there were no injury timout?
you would have said nothing.
bad play - yes
stupid play - yes
dirty play - no fricking way

quote:This. A 260 pound LB took two full steps after Lee threw it and went high on the QB. Lee was blasted 7 yards backwards and looked like a crash test dummy. Also, Bama had TWO blocks in the back on the second Lee interception. Should those players be ejected? Lastly, Kirkpatrick went high on Jefferson and launched his body as Jefferson was stepping out of bounds. Was that a thuggish hit?
Where's the outrage on the intentional roughness on JL right in front of the ref?
I suspect most of the people complaining about TM7's hand shiver to the shoulder of Kirkpatrick never played a down of football and are clueless about whats its like being in the heat of battle.

TM7 should have been ejected.
Did you not see the replay of HB7 hitting him in the SHOULDER pads?
Congrats. You suck at politics as well as being an LSU fan.

TM7 was attempting to avert what looked like a probable touchdown.
Sorry. but at the time, the LSU punt returner had fielded the ball and was running in the opposite direction. TM7 was looking to prevent Kirkpatrick from tackling Beckham. It was a clear foul (holding). It was not a blow to the neck or to the head. It is illegal because it comes from the backside of the defender and because it involves hooking his body/pads. The collision with the ground is an unfortunate result of a play which is illegal in part to prevent injury. It was a stupid, undisciplined play that cost us decent field position, but it was no dirtier than the illegal block in the back that happens on about 40% of all punt and kickoff returns in the NCAA.
Rex, you're an idiot.
