What would you have said if there were no injury timout?
Im not concerned about the injury, it was a freak accident from hitting head on ground.

bad play - yes
stupid play - yes
dirty play - yes
ejection - absolutely not
suspension - absolutely not

I do not know if you have even watched a replay. I did not see the game, but have been amazed by the vitriol begin spewed by some on here about the play.

I found a link saw the play several times and in slow motion. He did not clothesline Dre, he hit his shoulder pad from behind only. At that speed it knocked Dre off balance, TM7 held on a bit, which caused Dre to turn slightly, TM7 released immediately and held his hands high while pulling away....no deliberate attempt to hurt anyone, no flagrant foul no personal foul, no ejection even should have been considered.

I just do not understand what those who are so angry about can see in the replay to justify such a reaction????

After initially watching it, I tempered my view of what happened but your account is absolute horse shite. It may be what he tried to do, but it didnt work.

A 260 pound LB took two full steps after Lee threw it and went high on the QB. Lee was blasted 7 yards backwards and looked like a crash test dummy. Also, Bama had TWO blocks in the back on the second Lee interception. Should those players be ejected? Lastly, Kirkpatrick went high on Jefferson and launched his body as Jefferson was stepping out of bounds. Was that a thuggish hit?

I suspect most of the people complaining about TM7's hand shiver to the shoulder of Kirkpatrick never played a down of football and are clueless about whats its like being in the heat of battle.

Agreed 100%, although I'd add that they've also never taken a punch. I broke up fights with punks in Tigerland that threw harder strikes than that "haymaker." And I love all of the "thug" accusations. Our "old-fashioned conservatism" is showing again for some of the folks. He smokes fake dope! Oh no! Hide your kids!

it isn't across his throat
you're right, after watching the replays closer I see that he did not not hit the throat. However, this is still a stupid play. When you are behind a player you don't make contact. Period.

I never said he should be ejected, I just said it was a stupid play. And I stand by that.

TM7 is still 180lbs... how bad can he hurt somebody with a forearm to the top of the shoulder pads??

Spare me the "football is rough" crap. I know it is. TM crossed the line, plain and simple.

See? Even the ruggers get it. And that hold is legal in rugby. (if the ref doesn't see)

it's funny if it was the other way around these "fans" would be screaming for the Tider to get ejected and Saban is a "dirty" coach

i'm not a big guy on helment to helment calls, but Russ Shep got a big one w/no call. He was coming out the backfield and JJ over-threw him and got lit up

I would never be that big a pussy. Ejected? no way. I would simply want the flag to be thrown. Which it was

If I were TM7:
quote:

deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post.

I agree... he is a fantastic player that gives all he has.. it so easy to sit back on the couch drinking beer, making judgments looking at your tv set... I know cuz I do it from time to time, all he was trying to do was hook the guys shoulder pad and turn him,,,,, and do you know why???? so he wouldnt get a clean shot on his team mate!! So to you "fans" calling him a thug, and wanting him kicked off the team !!!

CHill out

Doug Moreau said this AM that he thought Kirkpatrick had face masked Matthieu earlier in the game, and this might have been payback.

Anybody else see this or have a clip?

Thanks for the link, Newtondevice.

This isn't about a hit on Lee, or Shep, or other missed calls, or how much Kirkpratrick milked it. No one is being unfair to TM, we're all fans of his.

But you can't look at that video and not see the swing and cold cock of Kilpratrick's neck. That's chicken shite, period. Unless you insist on watching it through your purple and gold glasses.
