TJ is much closer to Mettenberger athletically.
Yikes for his sake

I know, what a stupid hot take. It’s not even close to reality.

I don't know anything about the kid but I can say the little bit of practice video we did see, showed he has accuracy issues

I will eat crow if he comes out throwing dimes...

I was very happy with Myles...so this is going to be a step down, no matter "the hope"....

we shall see

Knowing both guys will get reps, I think this is just a tactic to throw off the SC game plan.

I doubt this is an indictment on Max, could even be an endorsement

According to what? Everyone should have seen this coming, all reports throughout camp have pointing Finley is ahead of Johnson

Correct! But he has improved drastically since then.
There are videos available on youtube that are very impressive. He has a quick smooth passing motion and can fire it effortlessly.
We will know Sat night if he can transfer that to game situations.

Tj seems like the better thrower with a stronger arm imo

Why on earth would this have any bearing on who starts Saturday?

By this logic Joe Burrow would have never taken a snap at LSU. I have no doubt the coaches see more in Finley right now than they do Johnson, but this is not why.

Hope he does well. He will undoubtedly make freshman mistakes, but that’s to be expected. It won’t matter how athletic he is if he can’t read the defense.

There will be some angry people here with Finley starting over Johnson. but not for that reason.

Because he’s Asian?

did you even watch his high school championship game? I did. Why can’t you understand that he may not be ahead of TJ? TJ was listed second on the two-deep heading into the season and last game. WTH.

With the way the offensive line has played, maybe the thought process is that Finley is better suited to take the pounding?

I'm surprised it's not Johnson, based on all the reports in fall practice
DID YOU SEE THE OFFICIAL SEPTH CHARG WITH TJ LISTED BEFORE JOHNSON? Jesus Christ.

or maybe he reads defenses better and has shown more grasp of the offense.

why on earth would they not start johnson if they thought he was the better option?
