5 of those 7 players listed was on a team that finished 14th in the SEC

Obviously I’m happy to have them but my point is it takes more than just getting “a couple” of studs every year.

5 of those 7 players contributed on national championship winning teams.

Yes but it still sucks to lose over half of the elite recruits that you recruit and have committed every year in college baseball to the draft. Yea it’s great that LSU may land a couple of them maybe here or there, but just imagine how ridiculously stacked LSU would be most years if all HS recruits had to play at least a year or two in college like college football and basketball. The college baseball/MLB system is arse and always has been.

I know a lot of you can not see beyond LSU....but if all HS players would have to enter college way more than LSU would be loaded with top talent. It would all balance itself out, just like now.

It is the way it always has been. shite, if anything has changed it has moved towards being better for getting more of the fringe kids to college with the shortened draft. LSU, and in particular JJ, handles it as good as anybody else out there. A lot of the players we "lose," we never really had to begin with.

There are going to be more and more players foregoing the draft to play college baseball now with NIL, lifestyle, facilities, etc

Winning National Championships doesn’t matter to you then.

"Penalized" lol. It's been this way since the dawn of time.

Recruiting kids that actually get to campus is the skill, not landing a bunch of PG top 100 kids that are destined for pro ball. Jay has done a pretty good job of actually getting some to campus though.

Downvoted before I read it. Ridiculous. LSU chooses to recruit those guys.

Most BB commits happen sophomore or Junior year of HS. If a top kid commits you take it. You never know what can happen or injury, off season etc.

if anything the college/mlb system is the best. Go pro straight out of HS but if you go to college you stay at least 2-3 years in schools. That way is better than that 1 and done bullshite that’s ruined college basketball.

It wasn't that long ago that if a kid was drafted in any round and offered $100k or more, they were gone pecan. While most of these kids WANTED to go to college, there was little incentive to do so. NIL, increased fan bases, and increased exposure thru ESPN and other networks have changed the landscape.

If you're a MLB team, better have 7 digit offerings on the table. Even so, there's probably a few kids who'll still opt for the college experience.

They need to move the draft before the portal man.

Or even better, get rid of immediate eligibility portal transfers and just about every self inflicted NCAA issue goes away.
