This is the first time I've noticed you posting about basketball, so congrats on just now starting to pay attention.

if that's how you determine if someone pays attention to something....

Ben Simmons excels at about 8 out of 10 aspects of the basketball game. He's so good at those things that he will be the #1 pick in the next NBA draft.

he very well may be. I still stand by my previous statements. He is going to look silly in the NBA for a couple years. He'll get posterized by more than one big man for sure

That could happen. He may not get posterized because he'll stay on the ground and not go up for the block (he doesn't have many of those for a guy his size). But the NBA team that drafts him will do so looking at future investments. Do they take the player who may be a slightly better player as a rookie or the player who will be okay as a rookie but eventually grow into a great NBA player?

FWIW, I can't say for certain that Bennie will be a great NBA player, but if I'm drafting #1, I'm trying to find the guy that has the best skills to be a great NBA player.

why all the expert coaches are here posting on the rant instead of making millions of dollars leading their own programs somewhere.

Bingo! It's amusing to read the never ending crap dropped here on coaches/players/teams. We drop a game to the #1 ranked team in the country by a freaking FG and here comes an avalanche of threads/postings with the main thrust being let me shite on the team in some way cause I am frustrated.

Baseball will be the same. Never mind the fact baseball averages a trip to the CWS every other yr, we have more threads/postings here upset bout something rather than appreciating the effort needed to reach the CWS every other yr.

But that's the world we seem to live in today. People in general are far more concerned with what they don't have/failures in todays world as opposed to what they do have/successes.

Dude you're gonna get killed, but you're absolutely right. If LSU wins that game, Johnny gets zero love...but we lost so it's all his fault. No credit at all that we only lost by 2.

no doubt. I always tell myself that the garbage I read here isnt indicative of the majority.....but rather the vocal minority. and of the vocal minority, its the dirtbag trolls within that group.

We all now know that BS needs to have the ball in his hands every possession

I see him dribble out of control and make bad passes. His defender lays off him and dares him to hit a jumper. He should be posting up (only place he is a threat offensively) and dishing out to the shooters when and if the defense collapses on him. Other than on fast breaks I don't think he needs to have the ball 30ft from the basket.

It is year 4 under jones. The team is making the same mistakes as his first team.

He is not a good coach when it comes to putting his players in a position to succeed.

I have never questioned the JJ recruiting ability, but have wondered bout his matching basketball smarts with the big guys of college basketball.

Having said that, I don't know how anyone can look at the game Sat. and conclude the LSU players were NOT put in a position to be successful.

When the best player in the country doesn't touch the ball or the play doesn't go through him on the last 4-5 possessions, it indeed falls on the coaching.

Thought you were speaking of Jordan Jefferson.

basketball threads, since their degree of importance is extremely low, should be titled with BASKETBALL, typed out 5 types in the title thread so people wont waste their time clicking on them.

The best player in the country demands the ball and takes the game over. We saw that happen Saturday, but it was not by anyone playing for LSU.

I've done my fair share of questioning Simmons "want" to dominate a game. But I will admit that I saw him on at least two separate occasions flash into the lane, post up the defender behind him, but the player with the ball at the top of the key refused to throw it in to him. Simmons had position, was only being defended one on one, and his teammates didn't get the ball to him. Both times you could see the disgust by Simmons with not getting the ball thrown to him there in his body language.

I for one think that was the best game LSU has played all year. Unfortunately for them it was against the best team in the country. This team shite the bed early in the year and now they're paying for it. If they had beaten Marquette, NC state and Charleston they'd be 16-5 right now and pretty close to a lock for the tournament.

Because of this he's under the microscope....he made his own bed.

ok tell me what actions lead you to this conclusion?

I agree with cho, I've questioned his aggression a few times, but to say straight up he did not want the ball during that stretch is bullshite

this is 100% correct. In a half court set, he's not a threat beyond 15 feet. Defenders sag off and prevent penetration.

All that's left is posting up. He's good there, but not great.

He has the second best player in the country and plenty of talent on this team. He could be looking for a job if this team does not make the Dance. IMO

You can forget that shite. JJ and GoodOleLess either are great recruiters or have great recruiters on staff and neither have any intention of leaving anytime soon, and neither will be fired any time soon. I commented to someone who was on the Board of Supervisors at one time last year during a home game that what LSU needed was someone to do the in-game coaching , like Leon Barmore did for the Lady Techsters , and he commented that LSU had one, namely Bill Musselman (sp?). Unfortunately he left for the NBA shortly thereafter. I wonder if we have one this year. If so, he must be on leave.
