That's an intelligent well thought out post. Please post more. You are a basketball genius my friend. We need more well informed people like yourself on here to help break down games. Thank you, I'm gonna go read that post of yours again.

I think he doesn't use his timeouts to the teams best advantage. We play Ben a lot of minutes, and it gets pretty obvious when he starts to get fatigued. I'd like us to use our timeouts earlier in each half. I also think with a young team, we should be using timeouts after teams start to make a bit of a run. I actually like letting the team play late in the game.

I think he's a poor defensive coach. I get that he wants to be aggressive and play the passing games, but we seem to always be out of position and over rotate. I truly believe that Q is way more valuable as a lock down defender and should rarely leave his man to help. You can take away the best perimeter threat just with him.

Overall though, I think the direction and improvement of his program speaks for itself.

Look at that atmosphere on Saturday. Before he got here, we had won 11 SEC games in the 3 previous seasons. We won 11 last year and finished 3rd. We've won 6 so far this year with 10 left to play and are currently in 2nd.

He's brought us back to relevancy, and he deserves credit for that.

You do realize the only way you don't help, weak side or otherwise on D, is if you are running a box and 1 type D right? You have to rotate and switch. I can agree with you on timeouts and have said Johnny must think there like rollover minutes on his cell plan
But on the defense, I think we have come a long way. A very long way.

He doesn't manage the game well. He appears to spectate and will let substitutions and timeout opportunities come and go. When he has good players he rides them for as many minutes as he can well past what any good coach would, especially forwards and centers.

He wastes the early season of cupcake games (Les Miles like) and rides his starters without appearing to work on anything as a team.

The best thing he has done as a coach, that killer press from year 1, hasn't been seen for years.

I truly wish we would play more of a Bob Huggins type press defense. Don't know why we don't. But I think his substitutions are spot on as of late. He did an excellent job Saturday and hopefully he continues down that path.

The lack of press is probably dropped because he is trying to keep Victor and Simmons on the court as many minutes as he can. While he has been better of late, I have seen it in years past and then he will revert in a regular game, like the one we are about to play against Auburn.

I understand his philosophy of riding starters, but I think it is a flawed one. It limits what you can do on defense (less pressing), is risky for foul trouble, and basically assures that your bench players will never develop.

I'm not calling for the entire team to do it.

Q will go into the paint to unsuccessfully swipe the ball, the ball comes right back out for a wide open 3 or the guard just blows by him forcing others to provide help and leading to an open basket.

It absolutely drives me nuts. I get why we did it early in the season, but Victor is more than capable of handling that matchup now
