Tips for Watching Title Game near Dome or Bourbon Street?

A buddy and I are making preliminary plans to head to New Orleans for the title game.
We'll obviously try to score tickets to the game, but if that doesn't work out, I'm wondering how that'll work to watch the game either right near the Dome or on Bourbon.
Do bars sell packages to get a spot, or is it just first come serve? Anyone have any knowledge or advise from our previous 3 go rounds in the title games in the Dome?
What bars would you advise watching from?

They have a Walk-ons on Poydras now. About a block or two from the river side of Loyola.

Asking for this place but also in general, do you just show up early for a spot, or are these places charging in advance and you can get a package for a table?

I'd call em. Not sure if they're doing reservations.
There will be MANY places to watch. In '03, one of the bars on Loyola used an adjacent parking lot to do an outdoors huge-screen projection. I cannot remember the name of that place but it was a few blocks from the Dome. Loyola/Girod Street maybe.

Lucy's surfer bar in the warehouse district FTW

I’m interested too. I was just gonna pick a bar on bourbon

If LSU makes it, expect every place to have cover charges or private events. Sponsors will spend whatever they have to for venues.

Call Manning’s and reserve a leather recliner. $125 bar minimum per chair. Awesome deal. Did it for the SEC championship.

Just hang out under the interstate next to the Dome. It gets ambiance after dark.

They’ll have street and inside viewing parties just outside/around the dome. If you can’t get reasonable tickets and want to be part of the fun in NO, that’s the way to go.

Why’d you capitalize every first letter?

Back in ‘03 they opened up the State Palace Theater for a giant viewing party with unlimited draft beer for cheap. I sat in the balcony and watched the game on a big screen and got hammered with a few thousand other drunks. Felt like I was back in my old raver days at the SPT.
There will be watch parties EVERYWHERE. Lucy’s does have a great one projecting outside their bar.
I just hope the Saints have a home playoff game the same weekend and i will be in football heaven.

That does sound like a solid option.

I would imagine that Harrah’s will have a nice setup with reasonable priced drinks.

Bourbon Street would be a poor option
Warehouse district or downtown would be a better bet.
I would consider 2 places:
Rusty nail - would give you more of a bar watching experience. Would likely get crowded. One of the best bars in city tho. Game will be on outside in courtyard too
Lucy’s will be a bourbon st-like atmosphere but without the BS. Will turn into a big block party and you are mobile with a few other good spots in that area
Walk ons & Manning’s are bleh
Harrahs would be fine but kinda sterile
Close to downtown, Tchoup Yard is a great game watching place

Thanks to everyone else as well.
The Mannings option is enticing but not sure if I could sell a ticket for that just wondering in case I would decide to pay up for tickets to get in the game.
