Kuhn, I hate to break it to you but you will not get a parking spot at the Farmers Market this weekend without a pass. With the fair in town it is parking pass only. I bought 25 spots 3 months ago and I had to talk to the director to get them. Also I have seen several posts about open container laws and the short answer is there is zero open container law around the stadium on game day. You should be fine as long as you are not throwing up. Anyway looking forward to the game this weekend.

Since we do not know any of the gang irl, let us know where the Friday bar takeover is, and we will take care of that! And again, we can help setup, tear down and contribute $$$ and sweat equity to compensate for our lack of supplies...

Well, if we can't park & pitch tents at Farmer's Market, sounds like Blowfish Stadium is the next best bet, kinda far from the stadium but there is a shuttle every 30 min.Tnx.

If I go to the Clemson game at 11:00 a.m. can I make it back to William Brice by 7:00? I'm thinking Clemson is 2 and a half hours away.

yes that is possible, although it wouldnt be easy. I have gone to clemson games at 3 and been home for dinner but i know my way around both campuses.

I am not a clemson fan of course, but I have to say they have a decent stadium atmosphere and the campus is beautiful. also, with bowden gone and willy korn getting the start I am sure it will be a sell out with those taters screaming loud.

Clemson is actually far less then 2 hours away from Columbia. maybe with gameday traffic it could be 2.5 hours but I have made it there in 1.5 hours.

As far as motor homes, there are fields on assembly street across from the stadium and fair grounds that are usually for motorhome tailgating. however, with the fair in town I think those are being used up by the carnies' motorhomes and equipment used for transporting the rides and such.

In short, I cannot help you. I have no idea where to go on fair week b/c any other weekend and there is plenty of space.

I will say that in the past, many of the more casualy tailgaters forgo tailgating on fair week. Its a huge hassle. The guys with the purchased spaces right next to the stadium or with established setups in local business parking lots will still be in full effect though.

Get there early and look around. I know that is common sense but its really all I can tell you. Good luck

YES there are tons of great BBQ places. Let me warn you that Maurice's might freak you out if you are not used to SC BBQ. Because of the German influence dating back to settlement of the colonies we use a mustard based sauce which is unique considering NC and GA both used tomato based sauces or vinegar based sauces. Yellow BBQ freaks some people out but trust me... go try a pulled pork sandwich from Piggy Park and you might be converted. He sells the sauce by the bottle so you can bring some back.

Use common sense.

This ain't Bourbon Street or Kansas, Dorothy.

Have a safe trip.

Bars are 21 for the most part. SakeTumi is alright. They play old chuck norris and bruce lee movies. As far as Sunday brunch, the bet brunches are Harper's in five points, Liberty in the Vista and Motor Supply in the Vista. If you go to Harper's, get the hashbrown casserole as a side. As far as restaurants, my favorite is probably motor supply. If you want something different, hit birds on a wire on devine street. They have great pulled chicken. It is also next to Ben and Jerry's so you can get ice cream afterwards. Maurice's is good bbq but the best is Shealy's in Batesburg. If you are interested LINK . there is the link. I live in five points, so I better not see too many LSU fans. As far as bars, it really depends on what you want. Speakeasy is a nice cigar and jazz bar. Delaneys is your traditional Irish pub. Dr Rocco's has everclear slushies and outdoor seating. Village idiot is good pizza and cheap beer. My favorite bar in the vista is the Flying Saucer. They have over 100 beers on tap and outdoor seating. Also in the vista, liberty is nice. They have their own microbrewed beer. If you like mexican go to mucho margaritas in five points. They have a three liter beer tower for 12 bucks. It is sweet.
