“I wonder who we can thank”
So, you think we should blame/thank a guy who hasn’t had a thing to do with LSU for 33 games for us being 0-3, out scored 63-10 by Bama, and having the 10th best O in the SEC??
That’s an interesting thought process you have there .

lets see how many wins did we have since 9-6? 21-0 with our best team ever for a national title is worse than 29-0 at home

I am a big Les Miles fan, but it was he who is responsible for our current plight. Les started to coast after 2011. He was very lazy in recruiting, aking the Louisiana kids who wanted to stay home, the suds who grew up watching LSU win championships, and then filling in need areas with roubled kids tha he local powerhouses were bypassing. That’s why we had so much turnover on the Oline, for example.
Les had to go. The current staff is working like crazy to restock the roster, and hey are doing fairly well. The big question everbody knows is can they coach a championship offfense. I don’ think the jury is in on Slinger. This year he had the least talented offense I’ve seen since before Dinardo.

Georgia has brought in 12 five stars the last two classes and Bama 5. Sounds like UGA is in a class by themselves and LSU for sure is not competing with them. In fact NO ONE IS! They are the best recruiting school in America, hands down! They have buried Bama in a flurry of five stars!

You realize that we have 4 less signees at this point. Hell if we sign Ish, it will add over 9 points to our composite total.
This class is not finished. The 247 ranking has LSU 3rd already.

I find it disconcerting that some now seem to think that LSU can no longer touch Bama either on the feild or in recruiting so we should just take them out of the mix and be happy to compete against the other SEC teams.
You can find it whatever you want to but until you live in reality you will just keep getting upset. Bama’s recruiting/talent/depth/coaching/coaches(by volume) is unlike anything anyone has ever seen in college football PERIOD. What everyone is witnessing with that program will never be duplicated again ever. They are the best dynasty in college football history.LSU is so far behind them on the lines and at QB development that we will not beat them as long as Saban is there. It’s just that simple. You just have to come to terms with that as fan.

It's a really good class, precisely what he was brought here to do and what should be expected of him. Why don't we leave it at that?
cause you trashed this class all off season? maybe thats why?

Last year's class I criticized because it did not meet the standard that LSU is accustomed to meeting in terms of caliber of player.
I don't think I've trashed this current class, though the lack of defensive line recruits is concerning. That deficiency is illuminated when we consider that the football coach recruiting them specializes on the defensive line.

“9-6”
Why do you insist on living in the past? We made a coaching change almost 3 years ago. Who cares about what happened in 2011? The last staff was fired in Sept 2016 and rightly so. They were not keeping up with Bama, they were not as competitive in the SEC West as we wanted, and their offense was not as productive as it needed to be.
Fast forward three years and what do we find? We are less competitive with Bama, 63-10, and our offensive production, 10th is the SEC, is even worse. We are left to debate which 9-3, 5-3 season is best. Really, is there anyone around who would have argued in Sept 2016 that 9-3, 5-3 while being arse kicked Bama would be where they expected LSU to be as this time. Sure in the helll wasn’t me.
Please don’t give me that lame crap bout hating Coach O.

You do hate the coach. Be that as it may, whether any of us like it or not LSU has fallen behind bama by quite a bit. You can't just snap your fingers and become competitive. LSU needs depth, right now the coaching staff is working to get the program there. This class is a huge step in the right direction. I don't believe that bama is cemented in at the top. I think that they're just waiting to be toppled. Coach O will continue to recruit at a high level and LSU might as well be the one to knock bama off.
Posted on 12/20/18 at 6:43 pm to bencoleman
When do you anticipate this toppling will occur? Bama is doing a halfway decent job on the recruiting trail too.

That was my projection. How is that trashing them?
You guys have a problem with anyone that doesn't piss rainbows 24/7.
And the lack of defensive linemen is ok with you I'm guessing? You were crying about lack of line depth all season.

I don't know but you don't roll over and give up. You keep recruiting at a high level and improving the program. Right now the coaching staff is working to put LSU where it needs to be. I know that you disagree and would rather give up.

What does this even mean?
It's shaping up to be a great class. I wish we could do more for our interior DL but I'm not going to harp on that. I still feel we will be limited if we don't evolve offensively, considering the other top SEC programs are also getting great recruits.

“ you do hate Coach O”
Just because I have questions about his adequacy to bring LSU back to the elite level, it doesn’t follow that I hate the man, but each to our own.
“ you just can’t snap your fingers “
Coach O has for all practical purposes been in charge of LSU football for the past 33 games and he has been head coach for the last 26 LSU football games. Jimbo has been in charge of Texas A&M for 12 games. Mullen has been in charge of Fla. football for 12 games. Both of those programs where in much worse shape when those two coaches took them over than LSU was when Coach O took over but we lost two both. Let’s not pretend that Bama is the only program in the SEC that we have to worry about or that Coach just got off the plane from Minnesota in Jan. 2017.
“ this class is a huge step”
I’m not going to pretend to be a recruiting expert, but isn’t this class ranked 4th in SEC recruiting wise? Whatever it is, it seems to be a real good class. Coach O in his staff are do a lot of credit this year.
“ LSU might as well be the one to knock Bama off”
Sounds good to me and we might as well do it next year at Bama.

why do you work so hard to find ways to be so negative about anything related to coach O and the LSU football program? Most of us are fans of LSU football, though we may still love and admire coach Miles, we are able to separate the two things. Your love and loyalty to coach Miles seems to have caused you to have an unreasonable distaste (bordering on hate) for Coach Orgeron and LSU. Maybe it would just be easier for you to follow him to Kansas or perhaps you could become more of a Bama fan as it would be a much easier thing for someone like you to be.

Would be great if we could have signed Kayvon Thibodeaux (the #1 player and DE in the country), Green (the #1 OT in the country), Sospher (#1DT), Nakobi Dean (LB went to Georgia), and many other great players in addition to the ones we got. But we are working on a great class, but no one is saying they don't wish it would have been greater. Would have been awesome if we would have signed many great DL as well. But what is your point? That the class could have been even better and was not perfect? no shite.
