Miles really likes him, I'll agree with him for now.

I think it is unfair to prejudge the hire. Player talent can make or break any coach.

If coach Saban had Kevin on the Staff at Alabama , I would think our new coordinator has some value to offer.

Losing upperclassmen to the NFL can cripple the defense. Let's give Steele a chance to work with the returning talent.

I was just coming here to start this thread. Sooo many negative people. Les hired John Chavis and he did great things. I have faith in Les to hire another outstanding DC!

I'll reserve my judgement until I see the product on the field. He's a LSU coach so he has my support.

Hopefully KS proves me wrong.

Bookmarked for reflection in a year

I'm all in and hope he turns out to be the best DC in college football.

Don't forget that Saban had him at DC for his first season at Bama.

He immediately moved him out the following year, giving him a supportive position to Kirby till he found a job at Clemson, where he didn't do well and took a demotion back at Bama as a position coach.

I'm not running up tiger stadium to see if I have a good shooting line of sight for football operations, but there is literally nothing go feel positive about with this hire.

He would be an old has been....except he never was back in the day either.

@JimmyDetail: Fans have the wrong idea as It pertains to Steele's abilities as a coach. Dude can flat out coach. One of the best teachers in all of fball.

Thus far media feels an obligation to support. They seem a bit uneasy doe

Even though I had to deal with this guy when he was at Baylor I guess I'll give him a second chance. Miles is a head coach for a reason and I'm sitting on my arse at home reading forums because I likely don't, so I'll support this for now.

My wife teaches at Baylor. Both of us are LSU grads but we have been season ticket holders at Baylor for a very long time. His teams here were truly awful. He had 1 conference win (vs. Kansas) in 4 years. However, he is a very decent person and I have always liked him and wanted him to do well. Here is hoping he can redeem himself at LSU.

Well said Big Cat. Talent, not coaching wins games. He is a great recruiter so I'm optimistic.

I think he'll do fine.
Now all we need is a good qb.
