If you know a basketball ref’s name, it’s time for him to go.

These jackasses have done their best to ruin college basketball. Some fresh blood would definitely help.

(This isn’t complaining about the loss as much as it is addressing a problem in the sport.)

Anthony Jordan (Tennessee fans still mad)
Tony Greene
Doug Shows
Teddy Valentine

But my all time least favorite was John Clougherty

The technical on Watford was textbook over-officiating. These guys make it a point to be a part of the game. No one, I mean no one, wants that!

Get rid of all of them... those are by far the worst offenders.

Or just make officials sit in front of a mic and answer media questions

Considering how much Mason Jones runs his mouth and taunts the other team...Watford just said something back and the Ref got him on it. Just plain dumb, especially bc of Mason.

I wouldn’t have even noticed Watford saying anything had the technical not been called.

Exactly. It didn’t help that it was right by the Arkansas bench. Watford shouldn’t have said anything, but Mason Jones gets away with way worse and push offs.

Was he the one yelling in our guys face and beating his chest after the dunk in the 2nd half? Because that didn't get called a T

Probably. I don’t remember, but he is the one constantly telling people to come guard him before he jacks up a three or dribbles around him. The kid is a great ball player, but makes a point to let you know it.

He is also the one that flops all the time and then milks any hard foul acting like he is hurt and limping. Shoots his 2 free throws and is back running. Kid wants attention.

No. Nothing will ever top that game. Ever.

Also, this cheat job last night won't cost LSU a shot at a national title. That cheat job did.

After he threw his leg sideways to get the "foul" late 1st half he stared Smart straight down and ref did nothing.
Refs were on the take last night.

basketball is the hardest sport to ref. It's hard to find good competent refs when there's a couple dozen major conference games being played almost daily.

That being said, college basketball referee's are terrible. I can deal with shitty refs, even though i won't like it, as long as they are consistent. Thing with most college refs is they are rarely ever consistent. You can't pick and choose when you feel like calling over the back. Either call it all the time or don't. You can't pick in chose when you'll call that slight bump after someone takes a dribble towards the goal. Either call it all the time or don't. When you make calls like that, it makes the other team realize well if they are going to be calling that, then i'm going to push the issue and do the same thing on offense, and if you aren't going to call it consistently, you make the game incredibly unfair and hard to play.

College basketball refs are far too much like high school refs, calling far too many fouls. Let them play. call the obvious stuff. I find more often than not when you get deeper into the tournament, the refs let them play more. There are simple things you call consistent, like putting your arm slightly down instead of keeping it straight up the whole time when someone goes at you near the rim. the second your arm goes down a little bit, it's a foul. I hate over the back calls unless the defender was actually blocking the guy out. If he's blocking out, it's over the back, if he's not, then tough shite. And don't call stupid ticky tack fouls that have no effect on the play.
