they could add 7 or so more rows to the upperdeck and get the additional 500. i just dont think its a priority though.

This would be the third major expansion of Tiger Stadium, which first opened in 1924, in the past two decades.

In 2000, LSU opened the east upper deck which included 70 suites and a total seating of 11,600 seats. That brought Tiger Stadium’s capacity to roughly 92,000.

In 2005, the west upper deck (originally completed in 1978) was replaced with a new upper deck that includes 3,200 club level seats and a new press box. That most recent project cost approximately $60 million.

Since those expansions, the demand for suites and club seats has remained constant. Alleva said none of the original suite owners has allowed their leases to lapse, and the demand for club seats was greater than LSU originally anticipated.

wow.

The reason why they are doing it is for the suites and club seats.

I know that. If LSU is going to do a project of this size, put it at 100,00 with all their suites and all. There will not be another project at Tiger Stadium like this again if what I read is correct. There won't be a deck on the north end zone so do this one right.

1500 seats in the upper deck is like one row all the way across....i don't get it.

Why not? There is always the potential, down the road, to go up to 105000+ if we wanted.

This. We need to split up the opposing fans in groups of 100s like Florida or other schools do.

I believe to put a deck on the north end zone would disturb Mike's area and close off the street

And the weight room bumps out and is in the way of supports, it will never happen in the north. And they will never have the demand to put a north one up

north stadium drive is eventually going to become a pedestrian mall...no more street. once it's closed off, there's all kind of room to add seats to the north end. not that a north end expansion would ever happen...

Its bigger than that but it doesn't connect to form one solid horseshoe.
Has big screens in the corners.

In the article, Alleva says that the expansion will connect the East and West. The biggest concern I have with gaps, apart from looks, is letting sound escape. Keep in mind with the student section being in the corner, they will be aimed straight at one of those gaps if they exist.

Never make absolute blanket statements.

They could build a North Upper, but it would be a monumental task that involved closing the road, probably relocating Mike or better integrating his cage with the stadium (Just came to me and I like this idea) and who knows what else. That is assuming the ground is suitable.

LSU Should add 500 seats to this project to take the stadium to 100,000 for recruiting purposes alone IMO. We've got to join the 100,000 club

Different question:

Will this make it louder in the stadium by trapping in the noise a little more?

That would be awesome.

I will repeat myself, They will never have the demand to build an upperdeck

They MAY build some boxes up there but I seriously doubt it has seating on top.

They won't be able to sell out the small games and they won't do it

Of course it will. There's so much sound escaping as is. I think the fact that it's boxes instead of slanted general seating will trap the sound even more. It'll be more of a vertical sound trapper than a sloped sound trapper.

I think it will to a degree, but I have seen others come in previous threads and explain how people are wrong about that

1500 seats and two levels of suites would basically look like this.

And I'm all for fully rounding the horseshoe kind of like UGA, but based on the way the East upper deck walkway is designed, that might not be possible.

From: Advocate today.
Alleva said about 1,000 seats currently occupied by visiting fans in Tiger Stadium’s lower bowl will be given over to prospective LSU season ticket holders, while the corresponding number of visiting fans will be moved to the new south upper deck.
--------------------------------------------------
The upper will have 1,500 seats of which 1,000 will be for Visiting Team, so LSU only needs to sell 500 seats , which will be discounted..

Great plan to open up lower bowl for LSU Fans
