No it is not. The stadium is built for big home games at lsu to maximize asses in the seat and maximize profit for the football program when we host these premier games...which are about 3 to 4 home games a year. Ole miss will be a sellout, alabama will be a sellout, florida will be a sellout as well. Guaranteed. Demand for tickets is affected by success on the field, the opponent we play that week, and the implications of the said matchup. when lsu is in contention for the sec west and possibly more, the ticket demand goes up, and more tickets get sold. However, after the past few years of mediocre football by lsu according to our standards, the demand goes down. Success = higher demand and actual attendance sellouts. It's not that hard dude. You put a good product on the field and lsu has no problem selling out tiger stadium. It's like that with ANY sports organization not just lsu. The stadium is right at the capacity it needs to be. Lsu has a huge fan base and has sold out damn near every game since the expansion, but sometimes people do not show up when the demand for the game isn't at its highest due to alot of factors...success, opponents we are playing, weather, etc...tiger stadium is right where it needs to be.

Should reduce to 85k. And increase amenities inside stadium w space created.

Reducing seating could only reduce the inside area, there's no way to increase it. However, the south end zone dorms are currently being demoed. Not sure what the intention is for that space.

You say, "too big" - I say, "cantilevered, north end zone upper deck."

Tiger Stadium is not too big. Some of you people aren't happy unless you're bitching about something.

It is much bigger than necessary. With every game on TV and HD television, it is too convenient to stay home for many. Decades ago when you had one or two games televised a year and the only alternative was radio everything was a sellout.

No, Tiger Stadium is just fine at its present size. If the Tigers return to Elite Status and consistently win 11 or 12 games a season, people will be stacked in there like cord wood!

You want to bet on that? Ole miss will definitely be a sellout dude. Either way your argument is stupid. So even if you turn out to be right and lsu only sells 101,400 instead of its capacity, lets just say that lsu decreased the stadium capacity to 95000 (because 85000 suggested by some numbnuts above is just flat out crazy). So lsu should just say frick those 8000 extra seats that would get sold and the profit from those because of a few seats that didn't get sold?!?! Do you understand how stupid your argument sounds right now? Also do you realize, with a 95000 seat stadium, lsu would increase the ticket cost on everybodys seats due to limited supply for an overwhelming demand based on seats available and fans who want to get a ticket to the game?...especially the bigtime, huge national implication games at tiger stadium? It's business 101 bro and you are wrong whether you admit it or not.

As I understand it, these seats are specifically ear-marked as "individual game seats" (as opposed to season tickets). This is the Athletic Departments concession to the caterwauling of the 'little man' clamouring about how he needs affordable access to the stadium. 1000 seats is nothing. They'll sell out.

One good thing when it is not a sellout is that nobody has to sit next to the P.A. system and have their ears blown out.

Let's assume that you're right.......

What exactly has you wringing your hands and pacing the floor so much over it?

You do realize that they aren't going to reduce the size of the stadium, right?

And why are you surprised? When the expansion was planned, LSU was a perennial powerhouse. Right now, we're coming off of several mediocre years, but are in the process of correcting that problem...

It will get better!

That's exactly right man. Some people just dont understand the effect success has on attendance to sporting events apparently. Success on the field, the general disappointment in les miles' coaching decisions by some of the fanbase, his teams underwhelming performances and the frustration attributed to it all play a part in attendance. I thought it was common knowledge but obviously not lol.

Kentucky actually renovated Commonwealth Stadium a few years ago and REDUCED capacity by making the seat spacing more comfortable.

This could be a viable option down the road if the crowd continues to not fill the stands.

From their Wiki:
quote:

The stadium recently underwent a $110 million renovation. The renovation includes a new press box, loge box seats, club seats, recruiting room, suites, concourses, bathrooms, lights and exterior facade while reducing capacity to around 61,000. The project was completed before the start of the 2015 season. It is particularly referred to as "The New Commonwealth Stadium".

Tickets sold or actual? Given the 8pm start and the fact that OM is 3-3, decent chance there will 5k empty seats come kickoff.

You need to know--and I'm being 100% genuine when I say this--that is one of the dumbest fricking things I've ever read on this site.
