Dan Bourne' was a major reason for the alabama loss...as colt david was attempting a field goal...Dan was talking as the ball was being snapped.

Does anyone remember J. C. Politz?

wasn't he the play by play announcer before John Ferguson ? I think he did Cannon's punt return vs Ole Miss.

As great as Dan Borne is, Sid Crocker was better. Don't get me wrong, I do think Dan Borne is great, but Crocker's booming baritone voicem ade it seem as though God himself was doing the PA for Tiger games.

J. C. Politz was calling a Southern game and he got excited when a player took off for a long touchdown run and he said "look at that n.. run" Needless to say his calling days at LSU and Southern were over.

That link is actually Bill Franques. He doesn't do Dan Borne' justice. But he is great in the Box!

You mean Sid Crocker isn't the announcer any more? I'm crushed.

It's funny, there's a subway conductor here in Brooklyn that sounds just like the Saints announcer at the Dome.

Dan Borne is a god among stadium announcers. "Into the game for the Tigers, Number 3....Kevin Faulk."

i only go to 1 or 2 Saints games per year and i always wished the dome announcer was dan borne instead of Romig with his whiney, nasally voice.

That Super Dome guy really gets on my nerves. I can't believe that he is really paid to speak thru his nose.

Really? I have known him well for more than 20 years, and don't know where that comes from. One of the best extemporaneous public speakers I have ever seen, and very engaging in one on one or small group conversations. This leads me to think you are the ignorant arse in this picture.

Borne' great in Tiger Stadium, bland at best in PMAC. He butchers the BBall introductions with is Tenor voice and borderline screaming.

Sid was the man.....

By the way, do any of your older OT'rs remember "Big Red" and his "TIgerBait" chants in TS and the PMAC?

I loved Big Red Tiger Bait (louder and deeper) and loved Sid Crocke. Big Reg brings back memories I was at LSU 73 - 78 and was the only student to camp out the day we won the basketball regular season in 25 years. O to be young again
