I'm still waiting on TheDoc to answer the question posted earlier.

Who is this game meaningless too?
LSU- I think the university has quite a bit of money to gain by beating Ark. Mainly by getting a better bowl game.
LM-I guarantee it's not meaningless to him. Actually after OM it's very important.
The Seniors- pretty sure it means everything to them.
For that matter all the players.
The Fans-Any true LSU fan wants LSU to do what it takes to win this game and finish the season strong.

So who is it meaningless too?
If M.Ford is the best back we have to help us go beat Ark at this point. I for one hope the coach runs the redshirt and starts him.
Again, when you had 2 proven Sr.'s as your top 2 RB's, then it was fine to redshirt him. Now you have a RB who is coming off a major knee injury and that's it. There isn't another true TB available.

Bingo! The rantards calling this a "meaningless game" are the same ones who had a meltdown over the Ole Miss game that in reality was no more meaningful since LSU now measures it's success with SEC Championships, BCS Bowl games and National Championships.

In that case, we should never redshirt anyone ever.

Some of you guys seriously lack the ability to put arguments into context.

Pulling the redshirt off Ford is unneccessary and stupid.

When you had CS and KW, yes you absolutely redshirt a Fr RB whether he's ready or not.
But, when you lose your Top 2 RB's to injury and if you deem MF as your next best RB then that's different.

Again, I'm not Pro or Anti pulling MF redshirt. But, it's not a nobrainer type of situation. I could see why they would let him play against Ark and in the bowl game.

How is it not a no brainer when we have Ridley, Trindon, and Shep?

I mean we didn't even run the ball 30 times last week.......don't understand why Miles feels he will unleash the dogs now?

It's ridiculous to ruin a kids redshirt year when Russell Shepard has more than proved he can carry the ball.......Ridley also, and it's freaking SR day for Trindon.

Not to mention by bowl game Charles Scott is suppose to be ready to go.........so essentially he is burning it for 5 carries if Michael Ford avgs 5 yards a carry.......cause you know if he is successful that won't run him more.

Having zero situational awareness is bad enough, but strategic, calculated stupidity is taking it to anohter level.

If you think he's good enough to where he would leave after a so year like Knoshown Moreno then play him, otherwise keep him on redshirt.

The redshirt only affects the senior year. You have to be in college 3 years before you can enter the draft. Knowshown was a reshirted soph, that's why he could leave. If he wasn't redshirted his soph year, he'd still have to wait til his junior year to declare (so it'd be the same year, last year, and 3 years after he entered college, he'd just be a different class [soph compared to junior]).

I don't know how good Ford is, I'm not a recruiting guru. It does seem kind of stupid to burn it, this late, but if you don't think he'll stay five years (i.e. he'll leave after his redshirt junior or redshirt sophomore years) then there's no reason to keep his redshirt, when he can help Saturday and in the bowl.

I've been hearing through the grapevine for the past two weeks that he was considering taking Ford's redshirt off. After Scott broke his collarbone I think it solidified Miles' decision.

Doesnt that mean he should have done it for LA tech then? I mean seriously... if he had zero confidence in keiland and ridley to do this when chuck got hurt, he would have done it already. then there would have been zero excuse not to run the ball against ole miss with either ford or ridley back there.

No, you can't. One play, at any point in the season means no redshirt. Medical redshirt is a different story.

quote:

You should know that NCAA rules indicate that any competition, regardless of time, during a season counts as one of your seasons of competition in that sport. It does not matter how long you were involved in a particular competition (for example, one play in a football game, one point in a volleyball match); you will be charged with one season of competition.

It's funny how football works -- you can never be too comfortable. Minus that fact that our run game has been terrible, the one position we had serioius depth was RB -- 3 guys had significant game experience and all are gone.

so you want miles to play a quarterback at running back because what really matters right now is our RB roster for 2012. and what happens if Shep is hurt this way? Im sure everyone on the rant will back Miles up, say it was a solid plan to not play the running back at running back. playing the 180 pound quarterback at running back, that was the smart thing to do.

and trindon hasnt broken a tackle in 2 years. you peopel are delusional if you see something else.

It was common practice under Saban. Dont know if the rule changed since then. This was 2004. Trust me, he was gonna redshirt.

Exactly. But they are too giddy wearing their "I Told You SO" t-shirts and so drunk on self-righteous indignation to realize their own hypocricy. It's quite hilarious. And sad

these are the same pinocchio's who are still up Saban's arse.

any mofo that thinks any game is meaningless is pretty much an idiot.

I can't wait to hear the backlash if this happens.

Actually, you're hearing it NOW. It's amazing how people get so worked up over something that might or might not happen and hasn't happened yet but could or could not happen depending on whether or not it happens.
