And.....

Just because someone is elected to represent a body doesn't mean they always agree. It's pretty clear the vast majority of students like it.

Are you now? I'm sure you understand what this could mean by outing yourself like that Mr. Hudson.

That attitude, among other things, is why this state can't seem to make progress, everyone fights amongst themselves.

Are you insinuating that we are somehow a "backwards state" because we can't come together in our opinion of a song?

I'd say the "among other things" probably plays a bigger role than people not caring for a particular song in this case....

In this case, it's about personal choice. It just ain't that damned important.

But good luck on finding a unanimous opinion on anything, anywhere. Louisiana doesn't exactly hold the exclusive rights to this phenomenon.

I'm in the band, and from what I can tell, most of the students like it...

Could someone please list for me what "our songs" are? Damn, for the life of me I never heard "our songs" when I attended LSU as an undergraduate and graduate school. Did "our songs" originate after I graduated? shite, it seems that I missed out on all of the great things that to LSU while I attended school there.

This song was played all over sports venues years ago. The Saints just made it popular again. It's not the Saints' song.

The Saints jealousy by some posters is just ridiculous. Had the Saints been playing this song in 2005, and LSU took it and played it, no one would have a problem with it. Fact.

Yes. If you go to the game this weekend, they will probably have them listed in the gameday program.

Crunk = retardation.

It has no place in TS, nor does "Neck"

Why? Just because you don't like it?

What DOES have a place in TS according to you? If the students at the college game like it that's all that matters.

It's not a Saints song. It's a Ying Yang Twins song. Fair game.

And I don't think outing yourself as student body president was such a great idea. Especially here

FWIW, I remember the song being piped in at halftime of one of the first games of the year last year. It was after TGBFTL had finished and there was just dead time. The jumbotron showed different students dancing, and I for one, was entertained. I was disappointed when this didn't become a weekly occurance.

And for the couple of people that said they are tired of hearing it in the dome, WTF? The Saints score, the entire stadium is dancing around, and you hate it? I guess you also hate the LSU band pregame? Bah-humbug!

Also, I could care less what the band plays. Whatever gets the students pumped works for me. We're there to watch the game and support the team, the band is just part of the experience. And I agree with other posters that if the students (the ones on their feet doing all the cheering, etc.) enjoy it, then it doesn't really matter.

A small but very vocal minority of the LSU fanbase is enraged when anything non-LSU is mentioned. This song reminds them of the Saints so when they hear it they are so angry they can barely contain themselves.

The rest of us (who are not mentally handicapped) spend quite a bit of time LAUGHING at these people.

Can't believe yall haven't ripped on lady gaga tunes yet. Can't wait to see what you guys have to say when we play gaga, do what ya wanna, and halftime (stand up n get crunk). Look i'm a dj and a member of the gbftl I see this kind of whiny bull crap all of the time. If I play just one song that isn't catered to the old prude in the corner I'll know it before the song is over. Here's the thing folks, were not playing music to please a certain group of people in the stands. Were playing a variety of music to cater to the entire crowd. I'll tell yall like I tell the drunks at wedding receptions, if your name isn't on my invoice (I'll relate that to athletics) and your not in the wedding party (I'll relate that to the team) you can either tip me or back the hell off.
