Agreed. But it doesn't surprise me that B1G schools outnumber SEC schools for these bowls.

Yep. Not so long ago we used to brag that we didn't just travel, we take over. Not the case anymore.

To be fair, we still travel great to away games during the regular season. We also travel well to Dallas. The other SEC bowl games in Atlanta and FL are far enough away that we have to fly and typically a a slight disappointment to be in.

Don't guess, its true. These three SEC vs. B1G games on NYD in FL almost always have more B1G fans there for two reasons:

- Retiree transplants living in FL
- Fans use the bowl game as a FL winter vacation

USCe fans heavily outnumbered Michigan's fans last year. The same for when Auburn or UGA play in Florida bowls. I get that some midwesterners plan a winter vacation in the south, but what's LSU's excuse for not traveling well?

UGA fans can drive to FL, as can USCe probably. Also, USCe doesn't view FL bowls as a disappointment because they never play in BCS bowls.

Other than the Sugar Bowl, the other SEC bowl games that we are most likely to attend are in Georgia and Florida. Our fans complain about going to the same locations over and over again, but when we get a chance to go to a new bowl, the fans don't travel.

Me either. I'm trying to do my part and convince my entire group to head down there.

Yeah, I'm not going to keep defending our lack of support in bowl games. It's not terrible by any means, but you're right, it should be better. We're a fickle bunch.

I'm assuming our Alumni Association is doing a full court press on our entire gulf coast alumni groups, namely FL, GA, AL, and MS. Perhaps that is wishful thinking, however.

ETA: I knew the number of initial requests wasn't that outstanding when I got an email earlier stating that my request was fulfilled and would be in the lower bowl.

Yep. The fanbase wants BCS bowls and big non- conference opponents. That eats into their desire to go to Tampa against an unranked opponent.

Attitude post 1/9 still lingers, unfortunately.

I can't think of any bowl game that LSU has played in where our fans outnumbered those of the opposing team, with the exception of games played in the state of Louisiana. I'm not talking about neutral site regular season games, just post season.

It's obvious you have never been to Iowa city. Starksville or Oxford is like going to Vegas by comparison. It's a shite hole. Lived in another shite hole Iowa town, fort dodge for 10 years. We a transfer presented itself I left for the South. If you think Bama fans are arse wipes they pale in comparison to chicken hawk fans. They still brag on tying ohio state for the big ten title several years ago. They pay their coach in excess of $3 million just to get them to a toilet outback bowl.

I thought it was about 50/50 when the game started. The Miami fans cleared out in a hurry though. LOL

Iowa will bring around 20K fans. I just hope we can have about 15-20K of our folks there as well. I think that would be a pretty good turnout for us, given the circumstances.

I'm not bitching because it's not a BCS bowl. I was actually really hoping for the Gator Bowl; it would've been a shorter drive, with a cheaper ticket and much cheaper hotels. The fact that it's against Iowa doesn't help.

I was going to make the trip for the Gator Bowl, but my group decided we won't go to Outback.

Not even really my decision at this point. The guys I'd be going with estimate over $300 of expenses and 20 hours on the road. I think I'd rather go home and pay $0 and only spend 4 hours on the road.
