Which barbecue buddy would O appoint as DC if Aranda would leave?

We had trouble stopping the run all year and getting off the field in down and (long) distance. Thought Aranda was mediocre at best this season, so start the excuse campaign!!

If you feel bad now don't read Mike D's interview on Dandy's site this morning. It will really make you feel bad when you see the huge games the opponents had running the ball against LSU.

We had great defenses before Aranda and will have them without him

I thinknhd We stayed at full strength we would have been a top defense.

As is scoring defense wise we’re soldi. Top 25 with a 74 point game on the schedule is pretty good.

I think Losing Chaisson, Fehoko for big chunks the season and not having Joseph or aFulton vs A&M hurt.

Not having Phillip vs Florida in the first half or White Vs Alabama for the first half didn’t help either.

We sorta limped into the end of the season for sure.

Unless we hire a shitty DC. Based on O's OC hires how much confidence do you have in him going out and getting a good or great DC?

We also had great DCs before Aranda

Pellini and Chavis were both top end top paid DCs.

So you're taking this opportunity to shite on the guy whose unit greatly outplayed the other? Cool.

He did not earn top DC pay this year.

I agree with this.
However just like on offense if you don't have the players to make the plays on the field it doesn't matter what the x's & o's look like on paper.
The loss of our best edge rusher early in the season left a drop off in talent that was to much for the d-line to overcome.

Three defensive all-Americans overall, but not a a single even second team all conference guy on the D-line. Lost our best pass rusher, the buck position is the cornerstone of Arandas D, in the first game.

Greedy and Delpit were great. Our number two corner had been suspended from football for two years and was barely eligible for the year. Joseph was a converted safety. Terrace Alexander was our backup, grad transfer from Stanford.

Everyone said all off season our lack of depth at corner was a huge issue. We got Fulton at the last minute. As soon as he went down the concern was proven valid. Alexander couldn’t hack it at all.

All that being said, the only game the defense is even equally responsible for is Texas Am.

The defense kept us in every game, and won us the State game almost singlehandedly. Consistently gave the offense short fields.

Not to mention maybe the fact that Aranda is a good coach puts these guys in a position to be all-Americans....both schematically and how he coaches in practice. I mean our offensive guys are just as highly rated, especially at receiver.

Kind of like the Offense and Ingram, Charles, Magee and others isn't it? Except unlike the defense the offense only returned 3 starters and two of them were hurt during the season.

All you fools bitching about Aranda conveniently forget who would be responsible for hiring his replacement.

I can. You're going to have Ed Orgeron calling the defense. Just wait.

Sure except our defense is still a top 50 defense not a dumpster fire

Again

We’re comparing “underachieving” as a top 35 defense

To being an offense in the 70s.

Just another person that expects the defense to win every game for ya. The fact that we count on our defense to hold everybody below 21 to win is the major problem
