Yall just dont seem to want to get it. Everytime his defense gets a stop, gets a turnover, short field, forces a punt what does it result in? NOTHING. How many games you think you can win when your offense contributes NOTHING

New coach has to have the autonomy to pick whoever he wants. There are other good dc out there and Baker has his flaws just like many do. If the new coach thinks he is the best we can get then ok keep him. He isn’t a must keep

Depends on the next hc. Obviously it’s their choice regardless, but if it’s a defensive coach he’s gone imo. If it’s an offensive hc, keeping baker would be ideal, imo. But what if LSU hires Saban and he grooms Baker to be the next hc at LSU? Obviously that isn’t happening though.

Saban had trouble defending mobile QB’s with a roster stacked 2-3 deep with 4 and 5* players. It was his kryptonite. So I don’t blame Baker too much,

ETA. I blame our coaching staff for not recruiting a mobile QB and sending out a statue behind the worst OL in the FBS.

Very true. I’m not championing Baker, but we’ve all seen some of the best defensive coaches get toasted, but learn and adapt.

Oh absolutely, in this day and age even the best defenses are going to get whipped once or twice a year. All the rules are slanted toward offense.

But my concern is it's the same thing that Baker can't seem to adjust to. I gave him the benefit last year cause frankly we were not all that talented last year. He needs to show he can at least keep the mobile QB from consistently running free as our defense seems to part like the Red sea.

I think there's a great chance he will be the next HC --

And I’d be fine with that

Only question is his management ability and style

It’s one thing to be a coordinator but HC is like juggling cats on a trampoline

Bake is a really good coach and he and Raymond are the only 2 people on the staff that should be safe

Yes, he has issues with mobile QBs but most teams do

He had a really good plan last night and the defense played well enough to win

In fact, even as bad as the defense has been at times, with just OK offenses they defense has played well enough for us to win every game but aTm

Have to try and keep him and most of the coaches in place. Two reasons 1.) player attrition and 2.) the devil you know if better than the devil you don’t.

Baker is really good coach. Weeks being out the last 3 games has hurt.

Well, look at Elko -- I think his recent success will influence the next HC at LSU --

If all Baker does is ensure we have a solid Offensive Line each year -- and he brings a dominant defense -- kind of like how Saban operated -- LSU will be in the playoffs yearly --

Dude has his guys ready to play last night. He needs to be retained……but he also needs to figure out how to stop running QB’s

I completely agree. At least keep it contained, even though it might not be the highlight of his defense.

He's 43, seems to give a shite, so probably can try to figure it out.

To be fair, running QBs, especially ones that can throw as well are almost impossible to defend.

And how much of his struggles vs running QBs have been due to his scheme or guys just not making the plays when they were there to make (guys like Perkins and Pyburn missing easy tackles for example)?

We also have to admit that losing Whit Weeks was a big blow for those 2 games. And even when he's in there he's not an elite athlete like we had under Chavis. He just knows where to be and how to set the defense. Baker's biggest fumble was thinking Perkins could handle it against Vandy. That was a Trainwreck.

He has to go. I’m sorry, a dc who can’t scheme to stop a dual threat qb in modern college football is a huge liability. No way can you have that. And it’s not even that the defense struggles a little against them. His scheme gets absolutely torched every single time they run up against a dual threat qb. Clean house please!

Oh are you the AD? It's a message board post to discuss whether we would be happy with him being retained or not

Yes it’s a hypothetical situation and I gave my opinion smart arse. My opinion is let the new coach pick his defensive coordinator. It’s kind of a dumb question to begin with because we have no idea who the next coach is.

Why can't yall learn from the previous mistakes we made in 2021? "Hire kiffin! Fire everyone!" Did yall forget Kelly's biggest mistake was completely cleaning house and taking the Louisiana out of the program? Raymond needs to be retained at least
