Honestly I'm really worried about his accuracy and I feel like we may be seriously restricted passing downfield.

I think that’s a valid assessment. However, Max didn’t get much time or reps with the 1’s in fall camp or during the season last year. Accuracy and timing are developed through repetition with the WR's. His deep ball should get better as well being a year stronger and working with his guys all off-season.

Yeah, against the worst defense in the country. Maybe our sights should be raised a bit. Looking good for a freshman won't win too many games in the SEC>

So the Florida and Ole Miss defenses were worse than a Mizzou team who had half its defense missing due to Covid protocols and a Vanderbilt team which was not only the worse team in the SEC but also in the entire country?

I don't know what you are smoking dude, but please send me some because I want to get that high.

If he can't throw the ball downfield, the defenses will cheat up to the line of scrimmage and reduce the ability to run the ball effectively. Then what have you got? No offense. If you are basing your opinion on a SPRING game, you're the one that needs to lay off the crack.

Max proved in the spring game that he was a significantly better passer than Myles. While Myles had his usual 60 percent passing completion rate in the Spring Game and threw for only one touchdown, Max hit on 65 percent of his passes for two touchdowns, and that's why, for all intents and purposes, the QB derby between Max and Myles was over since in the Spring with Max winning easily.

Wouldn't have helped Max with his downfield passes, Myles wasn't starting

those downvoting are those that don't want to accept reality that Max was going to get the nod...

How?

I'll never understand this board's obsession with arm talent/strength. Max can fling it when he needs to, his touch is way better than Brennan's.

Spring Game means shite..... see 2019

Myles Brennan — 16-of-24, 212 yards

Joe Burrow — 15-of-25, 159 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception

The other thing I noticed is that Max really only has one legit TD pass, which was his last one.

If you cut to the 3:37 mark and pause it, you can clearly see the DE has pulled up and just reaching to touch Max while Max still has the ball.
So to continue from that point. If you back that out Max finishes 10-16(62.5%) for 132yds and 1 TD.

I'm not concerned about the Spring game. When has a Spring game performance been indicative of in game performance.
The quarterbacks are protected. If they are touched the play is dead. Many times they could have avoided a rush and made a big play.

Myles' completion rate in 2020 was only slightly 1.6 percent marginally better relative to Max and in his three games, Myles threw for only 42 yards more than Max did in his only two games.

Which is utterly horrible when you consider the fact that Myles was a fifth year senior and that Max was only a true freshmen fresh out of high school and still very wet behind the ears and who didn't have nearly the number of practice reps to transition from high-school ball to the SEC because of the Covid Pandemic as other QBs had previously.

Not to mention that Myles did it with the benefit of Terrace Marshall and Arik Gilbert to pass the ball to. While those two leading receivers had already opted out for the season by the time Max played.

Moreover, Myles played a Mizzou team that had half its defense absent due to Covid protocols and against the worst team in the SEC. While Max did it against the number 6 Florida gators and against a very good Ole Miss team last season.

And then when you add Max's 65 percent passing completion rate for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns relative to Myles' 60 percent passing completion rate and 116 yards with only 1 touchdown in the Spring Game, then it is easy to see why Max Johnson won the QB derby hands down.

I don't buy the Max hype a lot of our fans do.

Is he more mobile than Myles? Yes.

Is he super mobile? No

Watching the auburn game he was very slow. Our Oline in general has to play better.

Our defense has to be fricking unreal like top 30 to help him and offense. IF we have that we can win 10 games but running backs need to break out. Someone has to be that guy.

I don't think Max is the answer and our receivers are very meh after Boutte.

They are meant to be annoying. If people are going to annoy me with their stupidity, then I'm going to annoy them with annoying drug jokes.

So, you're willing to give Orgeron a pass for losses vs State and Missouri because of covid, roster turnover, no practice time and whatever other excuse you've been using, but you wanna hold that against Brennan?

Ole Miss gave up 9 yards less a game than LSU last year through the air. Their defense was terrible.

Which is still significantly better than Myles's 60 percent for 116 yards and one touchdown.

However, Myles's long touchdown pass should have been intercepted as well. So if you loons are taking Max's away, then you must also do he same with respect to Myle's touchdown pass.

He looks like a sophomore with limited experience. I want to see him with more than two real games under his belt.

Very stupid comment. Ed O is the head coach and every thing I said is absolutely the truth and whether you like it or not. As I don't make up false reasons to hate on people like you Tom Herman homers all do.

Moreover, Myles is a player in a football game who couldn't cut it against a team missing half it's defense due to Covid protocols. That's an apples to oranges comparison but nonetheless, I know you did it to try to vilify and demonize Ed O because you believe Tom Herman is a better head football coach compared to Ed O who has the de facto best four year head coaching record in America hands down.

But not as terrible as a Mizzou defense with half its players sitting out due to Covid protocols.

If Myles played so bad and Oregon is the coach, why wasn't he better prepared to play? Why didn't the coach put in another player? You can't make excuses for the head coach then blame the QB. That's dumb even for you.
