Trap Game written all over this one. La Tech has a good ball club. Tigers better get ahead early in this one.

A trap game game facing a top 20 team?

La.Tech will be on stand by in the morning.

Would not surprise me to see the game moved up to 4:00 or 5:00 ahead of the increased rain chances with late night storms.

Tech had 2 of their 4 games in S Fla rained out this weekend. That means they will have weekend starters ready to go tomorrow.

From the looks of it, Jarret Whorff will get the start for Tech, with Hellmers on the bump for the Tigers.

Whorff: 8-1, 3.15 ERA, 65.2 IP, 57 K, 23 BB

Also had a 2H and 10K CG vs Arkansas earlier this year.

What time they usually announce weather time changes or cancellations?

Believe Mainieri said there’s a meeting planned for this morning with everyone involved.

Tech spent the night last night so they’re already here in the event the game time is moved up.

Thursday is all clear but I’m guessing neither coach wants 4 in a row.

Invite tech and whatever team they are playing to the box this weekend and act like it’s a regional since we won’t get to host one.

Would be rather tough to play 8 games in 3 days, eh?

Something the current program lacks.

We can’t hinge on games like this when it’s been a shite season overall.

While this game would be an RPI boost, it really isn’t all that pivotal.

You win this game and lose one of the next 2 series and there’s no tourney berth.

You don’t play this game but get to 14 or 15 SEC wins and you’re playing in June.

This game is really important if you only take 4 of the next 6 in SEC play. A win over La Tech might make the SECT less pivotal...a loss to La Tech probably makes it imperative that we win a game or 2 in Hoover.

This game is still important if you take 5 of the next 6 in SEC play. A win over La Tech probably makes the SECT less pivotal...a loss to La Tech probably means we need to win a game in Hoover.

This game is not important if we sweep the rest of the SEC schedule.

I just don't understand the thought of this game being unimportant when we have no idea how we finish the rest of the schedule. We need to win as many games as we can, especially against a solid RPI team.

This game is important as it may be LSU's last chance at a tier 1 win.

Not what I said. In the grand scheme of things, our RPI is what it is. One game vs Tech won’t make it break it, especially considering we have a 3-game series vs Bama whose RPI is in the 20s as well.

I wasn't necessarily directing that at you personally. It was directed at the Mosconas of the world that say mid-week games don't matter, as a blanket statement. They matter when they matter.

Of course they matter. Mascona is an idiot when it comes to baseball (and many other things). They obviously matter less than SEC games because of the SOS gap between those 20ish games and the 30 you play in league, but they still support an overall resume in varying degrees depending on the situation.

Bingo. And this one against La Tech is probably going to matter, given where we stand and what we need to do to get to a regional...unfortunately.
