I don't think this is a Canada or even an LSU team. I find that a lot of times even the very good teams don't pull away from weaker teams until the 2nd half. It may be that a lot of teams have decent first string players and depth advantages don't show through until later in the game.

Possibly. Miss St had to come back to beat Arky this week and Auburn was tied with ULM until a TD in the final seconds of the 1st half. If we do that next season vs LA Tech, tRant will go into a full blown melt.

I really do believe that if we get a year two with him, it's going to come together. People just don't accept that it takes a season or two to get things going when you are making as big of changes as he is. The system takes time to get into place. That's why continuity is such a big deal.

As much as people like to bitch about all of the motion. It does help get LBs out of position for the run game
Whether we won or lost the motion has caught defenses flat footed a few times, add a true running threat at Qb and this will be dynamic like we expected.

In your dreams home boy! LSU doesn't seem to want a Duel threat QB! Either that or no one since Flynn can coach them!

By what metric? We are scoring less points against a weaker schedule with Canada. That’s an objective fact. He is nowhere near worth the money he is getting. IMO, he’s been a major disappointment. I hope he bounces. We can do better.

it is much better than what miles was running. miles straight ahead was just too predictable. Canada leans heavily on the running game also but he mixes it up to the point where defenses cannot predict the next play that often. we are basically a run first team and it appears that with a young OL that struggles in pass blocking and picking up stunts, along with WR's that are still new and a QB that is average we should stay that way.

what Canada's offense does do is "set up" the D for big plays, TE and WR passing and Etlings occasional runs. I strongly suspect that his offense is capable of a lot more but he needs more time for the players to learn it and he needs better qb's and wr's.

also, he has all but abandoned the shovel pass and jet sweep. I expect those to return. I think he has required opposing D's to prepare for them and they didn't happen. the aggie D is probably more suseptable to those jet sweeps.

I really don't know what to think yet because I would be lying if I said things were much better on offense. The results are just more of the same with a little more creativity. Maybe a competent QB next year will tell the truth about his offense?

i'll tell you what metric. every opponent is different and we HAD to change our offense enough to be unpredictable. miles did fine against inferior DL's but just couldn't even move the ball against Wisconsin, Auburn or Bama. the opponents with quality front 7's stopped our running game and we were screwed. the offense is not so one dimensional. sure the stats as to run/pass may be similar but we now pass in running situations and vice versa. given his limitations he has done well. if you can't see that our offensive line is a liability you are blind. at one point we started 3 freshmen and are now down to two.

lastly, if this years offense ran the same as last years, we would not be near as good.

By what metric? Objectively, every offense we had under Les was better than this one except 2009 and maybe 2014.

Yet those “big plays” are not converted into points. Or at least less points since 2009.

He is clearly fooling you guys more than opposing defenses.

I do not like Canada's offense. I hope he moves on, and we bring Ensminger back to run our offense - a pro style that gets the ball in play makers hands like he did last year that set records.

I’m not sure you understand the word “metric.” And I know you don’t understand the word “objective.” Convince me Canada is good—or even better than what we’ve had—using numbers. I am not interested in what you think your eyes tell you. Our eyes are unreliable.

2nd half adustments seem to a strong suit of the coaching staff. They always come out ready to play. I think Canada was handcuffed a bit with Etling this year. Etling can't make all the throws but was the best option to win games. I think next year or the next will tell the tale on Canada. I am not a huge fan, but he has done some nice things and I am very happy with the tigers this year considering what they lost last year and also putting in a new offensive system as well as getting used to the defensive system that has only 2 years.

Good lord the OP got down voted a lot. Was it the fact that I was frustrated at slow offensive starts or the sarcasm that the rant can help explain it? I thought it was a valid talking point to get our Monday discussions going.
