Do you understand the impossible task of building a winner at a program that is second tier and at a disadvantage to other top programs?
Cignetti at Indiana is proving that in the NIL era, it isn't that hard to get to relevance.

Fine … you don’t want Kiffin
Then name me a great coach who might come to LSU !!
Posted on 10/19/25 at 1:10 pm to TigerGrad03
He just signed a long extension with Indiana….
He’s off the Board.
Old News.
Who is a great coaching candidate for LSU beside Kiffin ??
Name a great coach who is available !!

I get the argument for not wanting Kiffin because of his defense, but this is a stupid take.
Offense was prolific in a big game at Georgia yesterday ... until the fourth quarter when Ole Miss got shutout and blew a 9-point lead. That game right there is the microcosm of Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss. Prolific offense until it's nut cutting time against an elite team.
He's never won a big game at Ole Miss, USC or Tennessee as a head coach. Until he does, any rap against him is fair.

Best believe Florida will snag him while LSU sleeps.
Posted on 10/19/25 at 1:15 pm to TigerSaurus
I will lol when he goes to Florida

The powers that be at Alabama and UGA were willing to make uncomfortable decisions to bring in Saban and Kirby to win at the highest level. LSU brass never have and never will share that mindset. Bunch of political lackeys with no skin in the game.

It isn’t comparable. The big 10 has more

I don’t understand the obsession with Kiffin? What has he done to date to show that he is a sure bet?
There are no sure bets. Brian Kelly was objectively the “sure bet” four years ago, too. I’d trade the past four years for four years of Kiffin, no question.
At any rate, looking for sure bets is not the move. That’s how you overpay for mediocre, over-the-hill once-greats that win enough games to give you hope without ever giving you what you actually want.
These programs all have a head coach at his first head coaching gig and a higher ranking than LSU right now: Georgia, Oregon, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Texas Tech, BYU
These programs all have one on his second, his first at a program currently in the SEC or Big Ten: Texas A&M, Tennessee, Missouri
And then these programs all hired guys who have been head coaches at more than two places before their current stop, but notably were all huge question marks: Ole Miss, Texas, Indiana
That’s 16 out of 18 teams ranked higher than LSU right now who didn’t hire “sure things.” And people even had doubts about Kalen DeBoer at Alabama and Mario Cristobal at Miami. Hell, I guess they still do.
No program is above taking risks with their head coaching hires. Not only is there no way to avoid it, but even if you could, the money involved makes it foolish NOT to take risks. You have to overpay for a “proven commodity.” And that commodity isn’t even proven, really. AND we’re in an era of CFB where you have to budget for a roster, not just a coaching staff. Without question, you should be gambling on potential with your head coaching searches and be willing to cut bait early if it’s not working out. If they work out well, then you can pay them like the sure bet they turned out to be. If they work out poorly, you’re not chained to a $50M buyout…
It should be telling that Non-Revenue Scottie overpaid twice in a row for “sure bets.” The first one sank their program until they cut bait and gambled on an up-and-comer, who’s turned out to be superb for them. The second one admittedly stabilized the program while it was in freefall, for which we should be grateful, but doesn’t seem to “have it” either.

Would legitimately be Spurrier level misplay by LSU to let that happen.

Man I wonder what his secret is year in and year out.....I know its a QB that can run.
Really simple schemes. I’ve seen him speak at coaching clinics before. He gives his qb’s really simple reads based on pre snap alignments and post snap rotations.
If safety does this, look to X, if safety does that, look to Y. If first read isn’t open, check down or find green grass to run.

quote:KIFFIN LITERALLY HAD A BETTER TEAM LAST YEAR THAN WE HAD THIS YEAR AND STILL LOST TO LSU AND MISSED THE PLAYOFFS.
We would be undefeated with him at HC this year. We wouldn’t have lost to Ole Miss and Vandy. Guaranteed
Yall keep sucking this man's dick and he hasn't done jack shite. The man had THE #3 OFFENSE AND #2 DEFENSE IN THE COUNTRY LAST YEAR, and still finished 9-3. I'm typing in caps so you braindead morons will get it through your titanium skulls.
LSU was 9-3 with the best offense in the country and the worst defense in LSU history. In all likelihood, we'll finish 9-3 this year with a decent defense and the worst LSU offense since 2014.
Truth is Kiffin beats LSU at Ole Miss and Kelly beats Kiffin at LSU. Kiffin is no different as he finds ways to lose games.

My goodness man. What has anyone actively coaching outside of Kirby and Day done that are a sure bet? Kiffin would be as great a hire as anyone.

He is an OC masquerading as a HC. His crowning achievement as a HC is winning CUSA.
Gimme a fricking break with this shite.

Steve Spurrier endorses Lane Kiffin to replace Napier at Florida.
Posted on 10/19/25 at 1:40 pm to ActusHumanus
He’s better than Kelly and better than any other AVAILABLE coach !!
Name me a better coach or two that is reasonably available for LSU to hire.
I’ve asked this question 5 or 6 times and no one is touching it !!!

Kiffin will be at Florida next year

if Kiff was the current head coach, we are ranked #2 right now. Not #19
I dont see how you can say this when you have a terrible OL and a hurt QB.
Now yes he would call plays to help limit those vulnerbilities instead of doing the same thing over and over with no creativity.
Posted on 10/19/25 at 1:56 pm to TigerSaurus
Repeat after me: Kiffin is not coming to LSU as a head coach.
