Cotton bowl has always been the absolute crappiest place to play in January.

They need to move it to Jerry's Palace.

The Cotton Bowl is more prestigious and has more history. Plus, playing a Big 12 opponent would be much better than one of the easier teams from the Big 10. Lord knows LSU likes to schedule soft opponents.

Ummm....you do realize we lost to Iowa last time we were in that bowl game, right?

You also realize we lost our last Cotton Bowl?

What's your point? You claimed the BIG 10 was weak, and I pointed out that we lost the last time we played in the CAP ONE. The fact that we lost to Texas in the Cotton is completely irrelevant.

captiol one is way better IF we play Penn State. That's an awesome match up.

warmer weather +
disney has one of the best new years fireworks displays in the nation +
way more to do in Orlando than Dallas +
better opponent = better bowl game

Actually until this year I would have preferred the Cap One over Cotton.

Now that they start the Cotton at a reasonable hour, closer in distance and the new Jerryworld I would have preferred the Cotton vs. Nebraska.

.Dallas bleauxs....way way too much richie rich cowboy oil man B S ...I mean, it really bleauxs there....so so plastic...on the other hand, no place more BS than "Disneyworld" and Orlaaaando...so I guess its a toss up...I like the Penn State match up better, and its warm in Florida :-)

Penn St v LSU will be the highest-rated, biggest hyped non-BCS game of the year. Big XII-whoever in the Cotton Bowl wouldn't come close.

(B) For bowl games providing receipts which result in a balance between $1,500,000 and $3,999,999, the participating institution shall retain $1,000,000 plus a travel allowance as determined by the SEC Executive Committee. The remainder shall be remitted to the Commissioner and will be divided into 13 equal shares, with one share to the Conference and one share to each member institution.

(C) For bowl games providing receipts which result in a balance between $4,000,000 and $5,999,999, the participating institution shall retain $1,200,000 plus a travel allowance as determined by the SEC Executive Committee. The remainder shall be remitted to the Commissioner and will be divided into 13 equal shares, with one share to the Conference and one share to each member institution.

So, to sum up, the difference in money TO LSU for Cap1 as opposed to Cotton is only $200,000.

Given an athletic department with revenues of $84 million, $200k is a basically nothing.

Again, Penn State-LSU is an awesome matchup and I look forward to it, but I would just prefer the Cotton this particular year for the reasons I listed above.

All valid points but the ONLY consideration is $. Cap 1 Bowl pays more so it will always win out over Cotton. Period.

only $200k difference in payout to LSU between Cotton and Cap1.

$200k is not a lot of money and is not the overriding factor here. The overriding factor will be that "LSU deserves the best non-BCS bowl"

I certainly can't argue that. Without question, we deserve the Cap1 bowl. My only point is that even given that fact, I would actually prefer the Cotton this year, which is a change from year's past where there would have been no question in my mind that I would have wanted Orlando. Things are different IMO this year for the Cotton with the new stadium, date, time, matchup, etc.

All that said, I'm very glad we're in this position to even discuss this.

Also, good kickoff time for Cotton at 1pm.
Doesn't the Capital One Bowl start at noon Central? That's not a bad time at all.
