that bull shite call taking the first TD off the board hurt bad. we would have been in the game at the half.
the injury to Alexander and Lawrence being unable to play really hurt our ability to stop their running game. actually, it looks like Aranda made an adjustment at the half and we did a better job against the run. I have no stats to prove that but my observation showed that in the first half they got 5 yards or more ever run and in the second we stuffed 'em at times. sadly, our secondary had some issues and I think Aranda will fix that.
the real penalties killed us. they allowed state to continue drives. many of these penalties can be fixed, esp the stupid targeting ones.
by the time the fourth quarter arrived our D was wiped out fatigue wise. if we had just made fewer mistakes and still had a couple of our players that got hurt or ejected we would have made a better showing.
Etling had a terrible game passing and our wr's had a couple of timely drops when he hit them in stride.
I think state is a better team than any other on our schedule not named bama. their QB was awesome. their front 7 was bad arse and their crowd and team were super fired up.
our Oline will improve with experience (and not facing Simmons) and we should get alexander and Lawrence back (and hopefully Heron).
in summary, I think the talent is there to improve and that will come provided the team doesn't give up and I don't think they will.

So you think the Tigers will overcome this asskicking ?

Not enough sleep last night grandad?

Of course, why wouldnt you think that?

I like your optimism. It's good for the soul to be positive.
I am positive that we suck. This team can't get manhandled by MSU and ask us to believe that they are going to even hit .500 in SEC play.
We are at fault for buying into the hype and putting lofty expectations on the team before even really seeing them get their mettle tested.
This team is a middle of the pack national team, which means that we are a failure by LSU standards. Let's put Brennan in, get him game experience, and build for next year.

Sorry GD, they are not a good team.

As a fellow grand dad, I applaud your optimism. I unfortunately don't share in it, but I commend you for it!

O said Lawrence probably won't be back next game and I'm guessing Ed will mail it in and be injured all the way until Bama

We were disastrous, but I agree that the game likely would have looked different had that TD stood.

in other words, throw in the towel. c'mon man, is that the kind of teammate you were when you participated in sports?
if these guys have any balls, this game will piss them off and they will work their arse off to improve and show it to themselves and their fans. EVERYTHING went wrong last night. shite happens.

I'm a granddad too. I've watched LSU play year in and year out for 5-6 decades. I remember seeing the air leave the balloon when Lou Tepper was made DC and stay out when Gerry Dinardo wouldn't make the change. I knew it was done. I have this same impression now. Unless there is RADICAL change in this team's execution and level of discipline, and an infusion of that intangible thing called good character, it is scary but probable there will be no SEC wins for LSU this season. None. Of course, in the long run that could be a cleansing thing.

Good message. Individuals played with panic in their heads. Got scared of losing. Shell shock. Started thinking and doubting rather than just playing like an athlete. On top of all that you observed, being scared and confused makes muscles and brains stop working properly. They need to mature, and fast.

fair enough. I haven't seen enough to make that conclusion. yes, they layed an egg last night. but that is all they did. it's a loss and if we had lost by one point it would be the same. the biggest difference I see in your comparison is you are calling dave aranda to lou tepper. c'mon man.

It is as bad as it looked and what makes you think the penalties will all of a sudden be corrected? This is not a disciplined team.

LSU will win a few more games for sure but Miss State is definitely the better team this season.
