If you want continued success, you have to intentionally counter the normal human responses... and you do that through focus on process.

It happens to everyone. Look at 2010 Alabama and 2004 LSU.

And those teams had shite loads more coming back than we had this year.

2004 LSU wasn't terrible though

Beat a ranked UF team on the road. Lost a heart breaker to AU on the road. Got throttled by UGA and lost the bowl game to Iowa on a blown coverage at the end.

9-3 overall record

Alabama keeps enough players playing as redshirt juniors and seniors to keep winning. That’s the difference between them and the rest of college football.

2004 is more an example of the preciseness of the OP.

Saban's the one guy who pretty consistently counteracts human nature.

Sabans process and Dabos cult both set culture standards that don't allow major mental issues. Sabans has show some flaws but never enough to derail them. Dabos group is loose but just believe they're good and buy into the culture and are always prepared. The stage doesn't scare them. That's a tribute to those staffs. Don't have to like them to give them credit.

That said, the next part of this is that human nature usually has an "oh shite" moment after the complacency and gets back on track.

We'll probably finish better than most think.

Id agree.

I wouldn't be blown away to see a 7-3 finish

However 6-4 is probably what we are looking at, IMO.

Saban learned from experience. 2004 LSU and 2010 Alabama had big letdown seasons.

2004 LSU only suffered due to QB play. Had Mauck returned LSU would’ve been real good.

2010 Bama was still a damn good team. LSU and Cam Newton eeked out wins but that team was still tough.

We’re disappointed that LSU is not at the reload level of Clemson, Bama, and OSU. We all thought we were due to recruiting and momentum. Hard to say exactly why we suck so bad on defense.

No. LSU wins one natty per coach. Time to move on and 2023 will be our year.

Saban learned from Bellecheck. Plus he is a driven individual. Bill Bell saw that drive and turned Saban into what he is today. OP is correct hope Coach O will adapt. O has proven that he learns from his mistakes.

So why isn't the offense struggling ?

The offense is struggling, 3rd down conversions are pitiful and red zone TD scoring is not good.

To also clarify MISS St we did have defensive TD and turnovers.
Missouri we scored 17 points of turnovers

With this type of turnover ratio a good offense would overcome the defensive let down

This is far from a elite offense
