This may explain why the SEC chose NOLA DA Jason Williams to represent them.

Prior to coming to Baton Rouge, Judge Will Jorden was an assistant DA in NOLA. At that time Canazarro was DA. Jason Williams ran for DA but did not win. He had a law firm that was heavily involved in legal justice reform. Jorden is also heavily involved in criminal justice reform and sits on multiple boards in this field, as does Williams. It’s also interesting that Judge Jorden was a four year letterman in football at Millsaps College.

I don’t see that they worked together officially but it’s a certainty they know one another and support the same causes. The SEC knew this, so was it influential in their odd choice for Williams to represent them? Judge Jorden Bio

It was a strategic move if so and we are in Louisiana where the legal system is akin to the political system; sketchy at best.

Too bad the other side doesn't have a black attorney.

It is ridiculous that DAs can work civil case side gigs.

Jason Williams is absolute scum. Lets criminals off in New Orleans only for them to repeat their same crimes. Only locks them up when his mother is a victim of armed robbery.

Yep, it's very weird. Murrill ought to bring the slapdown on both of them for all of this.

Judge Jorden is a very fair judge, I have had more than one case in front of him, and he is by the book in my opinion. Played football at Millsaps if I remember correctly.
