Only one of the 1 seeds played the team with the lowest RPI in the tournament and that would be LSU. Little Rock is absolutely fricking terrible.

When you throw off you take the guy that typically starts off
His routine schedule and you don’t play with the baseball gods!

So was Northwestern St. fricking around in 1 midweek game won’t kill you. fricking around in a regional and letting a team have an opening for a crazy once in a lifetime day absolutely can kill your season.

Any of you idiots bitching about pitching Eyanson just fricking look around at the 1 seeds who have lost today. Ole Miss tries to pitch off today and ended up burning a few pitchers and losing to Murray St. There is a reason to pitch a day 1 or 2 starter to ensure you get game 1.

You’re just incapable of appropriately assessing risk/reward and that would normally be fine…but boy you’re really loud about it.

There’s 2 general approaches here, but what you’re saying is Skip, Manieri, and every other coach every year who pitches off are idiots. That’s asinine

You don’t risk it, and you keep your starters on regular rest for supers. Our pen is starting to get deep and elite. Especially if Cowan gets back to form.

We would have won 7-2 if we went Noot, Meyers, Primeau and Rizy.
Then have Anderson and Eyanson for DBU tomorrow and Sunday

If there was a year to pitch off it was this year.

Not only is game 1 more consequential, but it's also often more difficult. I'd rather Eyanson pitch in the tougher game

ULAR with an RPI around 230 was not the tougher game.

Again…. For the 100th time.

LSU only one time (One Time) pitched their Ace in a home regional prior to 2023, and that was because we faced an all American and 1st round mlb pitcher in game one

Skip and Paul, both, did not believe in pitching their Ace in a home regional. They always went with their #3 or #4 pitcher.

Skip always said THE ADVANTAGE for being a home one seed was getting a weak team in game one where you could pitch off and save your best pitchers for games two and three.

Did any of our fans watch lsu baseball prior to 2023??????

Settle down. I said earlier this week that if we were in a tougher regional draw or if we had a pen that was struggling more than they are currently, I would have been for pitching off. Those aren’t the case this weekend.

With us being in a regional where we have a decided advantage, especially in pitching, it makes more sense to keep everyone on schedule for the next round.

But after seeing other 1 seeds struggle to beat teams they had clear advantages over, including Vandy also paying a very overmatched team, there’s something to be said for the certainty a guy like Eyanson provides. That ls even more true when you look at how mediocre the 2nd and 3rd starters and pens are in this region. We don’t have to save a starter for a Game 3 to beat any of these three teams if we win tomorrow.

Some of us argued this today and your comment is not true. Last time we threw a #3 in game 1 was 2009. 2015 we used Johnny Wholestaff. 90% of the time we've used our #2

90% of the time we didn’t have a #2 that was equal to our #1 and our #2 was typically only a little better than our #3

It’s less a comparison and more and acknowledgement that any team can drop a game to a bad team that’s far below them in baseball. Moreso than in any other major sport.

So your big gotcha is it happened one more time in the last 25 years than the poster you replied to said it did?

What was that one year?

Guess you need to tell Arkansas how mediocre their hitting is as well since they only plated 6 runs against a worse team than Little Rock. Or Vandy that was hitless through 6 innings against Wright State. Or Texas that only scored the same amount of runs as LSU against a nobody.

Y’all act like LSU is the only team that struggles to score runs lol

Some don't know baseball like they think they do. Our offense was good tonight. They weren't perfect, but they did a good job.
