Is your question seriously, “why are we benching guys that can’t hit the ball?”

How many times was Gio on base yesterday? How many runs did he score?

I thought it would be more polite to say "ummm" rather than, "What a fricking loser this guy is!! He misspells 'idiot' and 'genius' trying to convince others he's not an idiot!"

I think you have to have his bat in the lineup right now. If somebody else were significantly better defensively and decent at the plate that'd be a different story. But nobody is stepping up
Agreed. I still think the light comes on for Dugas. He was just too dialed in early last year for me to forget

Speaking of, has there been any updates on Dugas?

The existential question is this, "is a power hitter that does not hit a power hitter?"

I vote no, and if you limit me on the base path, dont get on base often, and limit me in the field, I take the kid that gets on base more, can execute on the bases and cover ground in the field. Period.

Right

It works both ways. You can’t go ballistic when we lose a midweek game and you can’t declare that all problems are solved when we win one. It’s a week to week thing.

Last week we were so so. So far this week we are looking good. Let’s see if we can continue that.

Does it matter if the guy benched is a power guy striking out, or a small ball guy striking out?
You aren’t making any sense.

This is what you are calling a "big bat"?

Wilson Alexander Twitter yesterday (2/26)

Gavin Dugas dressed out tonight and just threw with right fielder Daniel Cabrera between innings, a good sign after Dugas didn't practice yesterday.

Gio has done much more at the plate with limited opportunities. I don't know how anybody can argue for Bianco over Gio right now.

This is obviously true. Gio has much better range in the outfield, and he’ll catch balls Bianco will never get close to. They are a wash at the plate. Gio is the better of a bad lot so far this season, but I expect similar results at the plate moving forward. And once on base, Gio can make things happen.

I will say that I don’t like the way Gio handles marginal balls in the outfield. In other words, when it looks like a 50/50 play he usually doesn’t make it. But Bianco would not have come near it.

I don't agree that they are a wash. Gio is hitting .240ish, Bianco .060ish. Gio is also striking out less, and getting on base more. Now, I'm not going to act like Gio is head and shoulders above Bianco. Gio has 9 official ABs, compared to many more for Bianco. So a conclusion can't really be drawn.

He makes bad reads and/or takes bad angles sometimes. That ball hit in the gap last night was ripped, but it's one he probably could/should have caught. His speed allows him to do things others can't, but some of that speed is negated when he takes a shitty path.
