It also doesn't help when many top recruits transfer or leave the team for another reason. When this happens, I always ask the board what they think out "adjusted" recruit ranking should be, and I get no answer.

I suspect there are many "package deals" that come with recruiting.....if you want me...you have to take my offensive lineman too....LSU can't seem to get any quality linemen that have the complete package of raw power and smarts to complete at the high level that SEC play demands...

All of those hosses on both sides of the MSU lines? They were 2 and 3 stars. They were developed, and didn't come into their own until about their 3rd year in the program
boom!

What was Simmons? I don't even have to look. I guarantee that dude wasn't lower than four stars.

Because Miles recruited guards. We need big tackles lite on their feet with wide wing span. Makes DE have to go wide to get to the QB

The two studs on defense Simmons and Lewis are sophomores and played as freshmen. Almost all of State's key starters on both offense and defense are sophomores and juniors.

The question that needs to be asked is how is it that State can get players like that for their lines but we have failed so miserably at it recently?
All of our starting Olineman and most of the backups except Malone and Cushenberry were 4 stars
DL were also 4 stars. Our 5star best DL was hurt and our 2nd best 4-5star DL got hurt in the 1st quarter.
Our best ILB white who played well was a high 4 star but our other one who is a senior and needs to be benched was a 3 star project. The 2 behind him are freshmen one a 4 star and one a 5 star.

Recruiting rankings are bull shite because they simply aggregate individual player grades, with no consideration to team needs. These player grades are usually conceived when these kids are juniors. The better teams will have players reevaluated

You really don't know? We had 2 and 3 TE sets with a fullback lead blocking for a feature back for years and years baw.

No, you are wrong. Are there 2 and 3 stars that turn into superstars? Sure.
But on average, recruiting rankings have a good correlation with the success of a program.
Is it a 100% foolproof predictor? Of course not. But, give me a chance with 4 and 5*s any day.
I think what's more important is that the roster is managed with strong recruits (e.g. we don't have 20 4 and 5 star DBs, with a low number of lineman), including not having significant attrition.

It is a huge contrast of what LSU gets out of their players which isn't jack shite and they are coached down. It is what it is..IF you don't believe me pull up NFL.com and see how many players State has in the league compared to LSU.
