re: This game broke me and I’m sad to admit it

1. My last game in Tiger Stadium was in 2019. Family, time, money, travel, getting older with …..micturition complications all played a part. However, I saw the writing on the wall about the changing stadium experience and decided I guess I was aging out of really enjoying actually being there. If we ever get a home playoff game, I’ll likely go.
2. 3 things can be true at the same time: there are flaws in the coaching decisions, they are more efficient on both sides of the ball (combined) than any of BKs teams, and Lane is still in his first year. Is it still frustrating that we can’t win a big game? Absol-freaking-lutely. I’m still confident the coaching staff will have better teams in year 2,3,4 going forward. I HATE waiting for good teams or “wait until next year”, but that’s where we are.
3. Bama owns us: full stop. I graduated LSU in 2003 so there was a time when they did not bend us over year after year. But aside from 2000-2011, it’s true. What can you say/do about it?!? Nothing. Admit it, and hope it changes next year.
4. I will ALWAYS watch every game on TV. I sometimes say I won’t…..but deep down I know I will, and by the time the game starts, I’ll be blaring the fight song and routing hard. I give myself 24 hours to say “f*@k this, I’m going to find a new hobby. This isn’t for me anymore” But I know I’ll be screaming at the TV by the time the next Saturday rolls around.
5. NIL/transfer portal has attenuated my fandom for the simple fact that some of my favorite teams had local players that seemingly had an axe to grind in supporting our generally shitty state of Louisiana (Dorsey, Mathieu, Reed, Claiborne, Lavalais, Landry, Webster, Spears, James, Whitworth, Williams, Clayton, Hester, Holliday, Randle, C. Jones). I realize some of the best players on those teams were not from LA. But I do not feel ANY of the Louisiana pride anymore.
Maybe the game has just passed me by…..

Noticed a big difference between him and Kirby Smart. Kirby looks like he’s loving coaching, Lane seems to be in a funk.

I guess many of you thought LK in his first offseason brought in enough championship caliber talent to beat more experienced teams. The fact is the OL ISNT close to being where it needs to be,neither is the WR room. You can’t afford to drop the ball in crucial situations. They also need more overall speed .This is a work in progress far from a finished product.

Lane didn’t even try to win this game in my opinion. He got in his own head and in his own way and out-coached himself. Our five million dollar quarterback playing like an 8th grader at recess didn’t help either.
Oh he tried but made every wrong move there was…
The 4th qtr swoon broke me. That showed me the mental gymnastics are not there to contend…

Being done in year 1 is clown shite.
You let too many people make you believe that because of portal it means a program can be built in one year.
It does not mean that at all and Lane has been saying it since the spring, year 1 is going to be the worst.
If we are here in year 3 this long melt would be worth it but it’s year 1 my man, we had to buy a qb room, wr room and oline room. That isn’t going to be a recipe for success. The way to being a great program is good high school classes, and plugging holes not just buying 10 guys for one position.

This part just isn’t true.
We beat Bama in TOP 32:45 to 27:15. There was only 1 stretch in the 4th Quarter where we went 3 and out and then 4 and out.
This is the stuff that irritates me so much. People make excuses for the defense all the time.
LSU took the lead 13-10 with 3 minutes left in the third. At the point in the game, Bama had the ball for only 3 minutes in the second half. And to end the first half, LSU had the ball for 7 of the final 9 minutes.
The defense proceeded to not even put up a fight the rest of the game.

Loser mentality?
I'm not the one playing the games. The record since 1895 speaks for itself.
No need to over react to yet another home football loss to Bama because it happens quite a bit. You should be used to it by now.

Lots of truth to your statement. But Lane is evolving into a great coach. He really had no pressure at Ole Miss like he now has at LSU. Great coaches evolve and learn. I happen to catch a pod cast of Saban talking about making a major coaching style change at Michigan State.
In 1998 Saban was in his fourth season as head coach at Michigan State, sitting on the hot seat with a 4–5 record. The Spartans were slated to face an undefeated, #1-ranked Ohio State team in Columbus, and Saban admitted he thought his team had "no chance to win".
Saban called his sports psychiatrist, Dr. Lionel Rosen, who advised him to stop worrying about the final outcome or the scoreboard and instead force the players to concentrate strictly on what they had to do on the current play.
The result: Michigan State pulled off a shocking 28–24 upset, permanently changing how Saban coached, motivated players, and built his foundational "Process."
In 1990 Saban went 9-2 then with the tigers went 48-16.
We have the correct coach. He is having to deal with a lot. That Ole Miss game had to be a mental nightmare for Lane. I know he's making millions but he is still human like the rest of us. He has taken over the controls of an unstable airplane that needs to adjust its weight and balance to achieve stable fight. If you step back and look at what he has done, in one year he has made more positive changes than anyone I can remember. How many times under a new coach has the program been "Just different" in a positive way?
He is sharp as a tac and can out-think 99% of the Tiger Droppings readership. Plus, he is a realist. His "just start drinking four hours earlier" proved it.
