For those on this board who always seem to be "in the know", how does the LSU WBB program compare to South Carolina, Texas, and UCONN regarding annual expenses

Well I can’t stand woman’s basketball so I can’t give an honest opinion.

If I want to go watch that caliber of player in the most athletic sport there is, I’ll just go to a good boys high school game.

Thats one reason I love womens basketball. They are damn scrappy and they fight. Most are just as athletic and coordinated as the guys.

Um we’ll just have to agree to disagree there. They fall on the floor because they are less cooordinated and athletic than the guys.

Dumb-frick they are one of the best in the country.

In year 2, they won a national championship. Kim put LSU women’s basketball on the map again.

If men’s basketball won a natty in the 2nd year, you would run to suck off every player in tbe team.

Do you realize the dollar value in publicity that the team brings to this university??

Yes.

$-7million.

Yes I meant to put the - there. Negative. Seven. Million. That’s the dollar value.

I know most of y’all know this already, but it keeps getting ignored so I’ll say it again: the accounting for each sport does not reflect the ESPN media rights deal for all other sports outside of MBB and FBS Football.

Whatever the line item shows WBB losing last year is not including that money. That media rights deal, by all accounts, was overwhelmingly driven by the value of the WBB tournament. The difference is it is bundled with everything else to help prop up sports like swimming/diving, golf, etc.

Funny. That’s what the baseball guys also say. So is it baseball or is it women’s basketball? Additionally. Did we receive a larger share due to our performance in the tournament?

I mean I don’t enjoy watching women’s basketball so yeah, they don’t get much of my money. They lose money because they spend a shite ton and don’t generate enough to make up for it, for whatever reason.

Which line item is the media rights deal in for swimming & diving that props it up? Are you saying that it’s not included in the women’s basketball budget but is included in the swimming & diving budget to help prop it up?

There’s no debate. It’s women’s basketball, and I say that as a huge lsu baseball fan.

You’re talking about units. They just started doing those and I’m not sure if they have started going out yet. They were supposed to grow over time as well.

LSU fans include Rant posters with a high percentage of retarded takes.

They love nothing more than to hide behind screen names and bash while pretending they are experts.

It’s not necessarily financially propping up. They are in the same media rights deal which includes guarantees on what is televised (how many meets for example).

Take the driving force behind that deal out (WBB) and the rest of the sports likely get a worse deal out of it, both financially and coverage-wise.

You leverage the big thing of value for that deal (WBB) for not only more money but also better coverage of all sports.

You’re making the same mistake many on here make. Swimming and WBB aren’t separate for-profit companies. They are divisions of the same company whose primary goal is not simply to make bigger profits.

Doesn’t really matter what this board wants. Any LSU team that delivers a good product on the field (wins) will be funded adequately…those teams that don’t will get what is leftover.
