This aspect of coaching is what 99% of coaches are missing.

Saban On Adaptation

The good news is Tom Herman thinks the same way:

Tom Herman Film Room

It's a simple principle, never letting results dictate how you feel about performance and improving. I think Les Miles has had impressive results at times at LSU, and has never been able to focus on the fundamentals of execution regardless if you get lucky and gain 50yds.

I love Tom Herman's simplistic approach, each player gets a score, and he breaks down each play +1/-1 regardless of outcome.

Thanks for sharing this. Very interesting to see how different coaches react post-game and how they handle their athletes. Obviously Saban is never happy with his team's performance, outwardly at least, but that's part of what makes his perfectionist coaching style work. Also really like the way Herman thinks. Want that guy as our coach more than anyone else.

To me the magic is the seriousness with which these coaches take the game and how they approach the game with respect. It is a game, but one that a lot of people have invested time, money, interest, and so much more. To me miles has never displayed a consistent serious attitude to the game that respects the effort and resources that have been entrusted to him...and paid to him. I respect his success, but that attitude has lost him the support of every tiger fan who writes the check every year.

That is why I think if we won 17-16 last Saturday we would definitely lose 3 in Nov, now there is a small hope.

I honestly agree with this statement. I'm not saying that we will win, but I do believe this lost has given us the best chance for that to happen.

I shouldn't have watched that Tom Herman film room.

That's exactly what this LSU team needs to be.

LSU will not be able to get Herman in my opinion. I think he would only leave Houston for Texas or a better gig than LSU. We are likely not going to be able to get our first or even our second choice in my opinion.

So you think that Houston is a better coaching gig than LSU? Recruiting prowess and resources are tops at LSU. Why wouldn't any coach want that?

Motherfrickers like you are why no coach should want to come here.

LSU is tied for the #1 coaching gig in college football. There are about 10 programs that are inseparable for "best".

LSU
USC
Texas
Bama
Georgia
Florida
FSU
Ohio St
Notre Dame

Out of this list LSU is certainly in the top half. Coaches don't give a flip about the historical success a school has had. They care about budgets for facilities and coaches (especially their own salary), available high school talent, and existing talent on the team. LSU ranks among the best at every one of those

He isn't saying that. He's inferring Texas (or other big school) is better.

And, I would disagree.

I think the Tiger Coaching staff could take the whole North Carolia Panther team, 'coach' them, and come out with an 8-4 season in the SEC.

LSU is probably in the top 6 coaching gigs in College Football, at least top 6 easily

LSU has the #1 venue to watch games...

SEC

Only Flagship school in LA

And we pay well

It's up there...UT is a great school, but it looks like Strong has turned it around...

so it comes down to timing with these coaching changes

I'm pretty sure 99% of all programs in high school and college grade players. And yes, regardless of outcome it happens every day after the game.

Coach speak makes this board declare geniuses in about eight seconds.

I am all for shite canning smiles before breakfast this morning. But LSU does damn near the same thing as every other program in regard to film study and grading

I know that's what he's inferring, and I disagree as well. That's why I posed the question of why Herman wouldn't want to come here when we have top notch facilities and recruiting prowess.

Of course you don't really know what 99% of coaches do in their preparation so this is just all completely out of your arse.

I'm not sure this really applies to Miles.
