Deitzel left in 1962
Bear Bryant died after the 1982 season
It took 20 years to die from that stroke???
Dietzel and Bryant were on the same staff, both were named Paul. So they got the nicknames Bear and Paul-O.
When Bryant bought a player in state while at A&M, Dietzel told him that’s the last one- or else. Bryant said “oh Paul-O its just football”, but he didn’t recruit another player here while Dietzel was head coach.
This story is from Dietzel. He had a bunch of them.

Weird thing to ask another guy to do.

And I’m not on the bonfire building committee. So I’ll have to find something else to do with my time, I suppose.

That is the answer.

You've got to be kidding me.

Oh, no - texas t-shirt fans are the absolute worst. Sorry, they’ve got yall beat there. However, I’m not sure why it matters if they’re Hispanic or not…

And yes, an Aggie explaining why he dislikes LSU on a thread about why people hate LSU seemed appropriate. Unless yall just want to circle jerk each other in your echo chamber, then I guess I could have not posted my reasons.

i can understand and agree to some of what you wrote. the thing is, the magnitude of the hate is not near that bad no is the geographical area of hate not that large. i've lived in NYC and Philly and you won't see any of that outside of the occasssional north/south thing. they mostly ignore us (and you too). something just doesn't strike right with someone from tennessee calling people from louisianna stupid. i have traveled all over the south for business for over 35 years and your statements don't add up in the business world. yes, our public education is normally pretty bad but a huge part of our system is catholic and some of the best schools in the south are these catholic schools, esp in new orleans. and they are never included in the stats.

Lane at OM- Largely ignore. Sure, there was controversy, but he didn't really make the traditional powers in Birmingham nervous because its Ole Miss and there's a ceiling there.

Lane and an aligned LSU? Yeah, that's a threat we need to try and thwart at every turn. They're going to scream bloody murder and cry foul on everything he does to push the envelope because they want to build a case over the long haul that's he's out of control

I don’t disagree - every school and every state have their fair share of bad apples. I didn’t say that people from Louisiana or LSU are stupid, I said that the state’s education isn’t the best and that the state may have a perception from outsiders that doesn’t shine the best light. You know, talk with a funny accent and wrestle swamp puppies - people will ask questions. I know there are plenty of people smarter than me that went to LSU or live in the state. But I also know there are a lot of people that sound less than impressive as well. Every state and every school is the same.
