You can recognize that Kelly needs to change the culture of the program and bring in the guys he wants, and you can trust him to do that based on his body work. But you can also recognize losing Raymond is a massive loss, especially short term. Frank back helps mitigate it some but it’s still a big loss. No the sky isn’t falling and there’s no reason to panic, but let’s not act losing Raymond is inconsequential either

I hate losing CR, but if he turns around and brings someone like Kerry Coombs in… well, he’s redeemed himself. Not saying we get Coombs, I’m just saying someone with that history. You have to assume Cooks isn’t his replacement.

Ok then lets recognize our DB coverage last two seasons had a lot of busted coverages! Many times looking very confused.

Daronte Jones is a great secondary coach, he could very well be retained at this point so the loss of Raymond would be moot.

Losing Raymond doesn't look good, sound good or make any sense. It also hurts the alignment and recruiting.

Our secondary was awful the last two years… Raymond attitude after Bush hire hurt LSU.

Whatever… we lost our locker room and player leadership

Change is and was needed

It's actually PART of tAlignment. And it will hurt recruiting in the short term but in case you haven't noticed, Coach Kelly is hiring guys who are proven top notch ace recruiters. We'll be fine. I'll miss Coach Raymond and TYFYS but it's time for a culture shift.

Was it worse than our offensive line?

I feel like we needed a complete re boot. All the guys that were here under Miles need to be gone. The culture has gotten really bad.

Seeing how people downvoted you shows just how stupid this fanbase is. They basically are at the point where no matter how bad of a decision Kelly makes they will try to justify it. It’s really bizarre

You can also recognize that it sucks to lose him right before the early signing period and appreciate the great work he has done, but also understand that things may have gotten stale after 10 years. I hate to see him go, but it’s not the end of the world. No position coach is that important.

I think we need to stop holding a scorecard and judge CBK's performance on who goes and who stays. Coaches leave for many reasons other than a new sheriff in town. Coaches may be looking for a challenge different from what they have at LSU. And I'm confident some that leave will look back and think - boy was that a mistake. I'd love to be part of that championship run. The initial chaos is unsettling because it's human nature to take comfort in things as they are because it's a known quantity (even the crap). It's the unknown that scary because we fantasize a worse case. But if you're to break out and go in a new direction then change needs to happen - some by the actions and vision of the head coach and some by the actions and vision of the assistant coaches and players. We're all on the train and might as well strap in and see where we end up.

No. But a change was already made there. Brad Davis has been on campus less than 6 months.

Let’s also recognize that while CR was an elite recruiter of DBs, our secondary hasn’t been great and that position group has had more quitters than others.
