There seems to be confusion from some about what bowl games LSU can make. I’ll help.

Option 1:
LSU beats Georgia- They go to the Sugar Bowl. No questions asked. The sugar takes the SEC champion even if they are 7-5. If the SEC champion is in the playoff, the Sugar takes the next highest ranked SEC team.
Option 2
LSU loses to Georgia- Seeing as to it they are ranked 14th, a new years 6 is out of the equation. After the New Years 6 are selected, the Citrus bowl gets to pick from the remaining SEC and Big 10 teams. Likely LSU-Purdue as they could pit the SEC champ loser vs the Big 10 champ loser
Option 3:
LSU loses to Georgia- Citrus decides LSU is coming off 2 straight losses and decides to select USCe coming off 2 top 10 wins. After the Citrus the SEC office works to place team in bowl games. That would mean they would likely get put in a game (Outback/Gator) with Notre Dame as it would drive up tv ratings and bring in more revenue
Hope this helps

There is no helping a lot of the people that post here. They see what they want to see, and become convinced that whatever they believe is absolute fact.

I’ll take the Texas bowl so I can go. If it’s not top 4 or a ny6 bowl, it doesn’t matter

Well that would be a lose lose game.

A ND vs LSU matchup would generate a ton of interest outside of the LSU fans.

LSU / Norte Dame would be the worst match up possible from just a PR stand point; which is why it’s the most likely scenario

Why would it be a bad pr matchup? Id prefer facing notre dame to purdue

Great post. You probably have too much sense for this place though.

Exactly. If the Citrus passes on us, it will be our punishment for beating Alabama and keeping a second SEC team out playoffs

Me too but doesn’t look possible. I’m going to Vegas bowl regardless as a guest of the sponsor, would like to at least see a good matchup. Maybe ole miss/Oregon?

Because if we would lose they would end up with a better record and ranking and give everyone ammo all off-season about how Notre Dame made out better by hiring Freeman. It's a lose lose for LSU and Kelly

One of the inheritance scenarios in your hyperbolic narrative is not like the other my man

We win and we’re beating up on a weaker team.
We lose and we got beat/Kelly cucked by his old weaker team.

Do we have any kind of path to the orange bowl?

Give me the Notre Dame matchup. Every. Single. Time.

Yall are too soft.
Bowl games are glorified scrimmages. Give me the best opponents. Who gives a frick if we lose.

Outside of the playoff games all of the bowl games are essentially exhibition games for entertainment purposes. The winner doesn’t “advance” to the next round. The season just ends for both teams. So I don’t really care about the venue as much as seeing a compelling matchup.
While unlikely to happen, I’d prefer to see something like LSU v Clemson in the Reliaquest Bowl over LSU v Tulane in the Sugar.
