here's the deal, LISTEN UP! CPM made the right move, it ALMOST backfired because our closer couldn't find the strke zone with his curve ball and had to rely on one pitch. somehow, that one pitch was enough and the result was he gave up one run.
shite like this happens. you have no idea what would have happened if Hess had remained in the game. but, in the end LSU WON THE frickING GAME! BE HAPPY!! LSU WON THE frickING SEC TOURNAMNET!

Ok i mean I have season tickets, lol I've watched plenty. Its the couch coaches like you that make the board miserable. Go back to Tball and try again..

you know he threw 7 or 8 pitches before he even threw a curve ball right? So did he know he didn't have it when he came into the game? If so it seems he would have had Gilbert getting ready.

Good so you obviously saw the 4 or 5 other times this has happened before in this season. I am not the OP saying the sky is falling-- my ONLY point was it's a concern for the postseason that Newman has has multiple games with 9th inning control problems that's gotten the Tigers into some serious jams. It has to give CPM a slight pause moving forward.

Newman may still not be 100% if he is I'd be worried. . He needs to prove to me in the regional he will not be a libility..

yes, he did and with a 3 run lead that's normal to give the D a chance to make an out or two. but he needs his curveball to be who he is. and i did not see even one strike with one. he hit the batter with one and walked a batter with one.

i seriously doubt a pitcher knows he doesn't have his pitch when he enters the game. sometimes you throw them fine in warm ups in the pen. the game is different.

With his starter we'll over 100 pitches Mainieri put his closer in who has been solid all year.
The irony of the OP post is my bet the same exact poster would have complained had Mainieri left Walker in had Walker stayed in and gave up hits.
Virtually every college or MLB coach who knows baseball would have gone to his closer in that situatin.

I'm not concerned with him putting Newman in.. I'm concerned that Newman will blow a save when it really counts like in the supers.. Hope I'm wrong but something not right with a closer constantly giving free passes.. may be he'll be ok in postseason. but I see signs that are alarmingly
