Ole Miss put together an impressive defensive front via the tran$fer portal. It was a major inve$tment. NIL money is the lifeblood of the transfer portal.

They just chose to spend the money on the portal instead of trying to convince recruits to join their program. Ole Miss has spent money in the past. It’s just harder for them to convince a recruit to join their program than to join a Bama or LSU or Texas. The portal has now allowed them to pick up players they otherwise would never be able to get.

Yeah, NIL changed things, but the portal is why Saban left. He couldn’t roster manage like he could before. If NIL had been the only thing that changed, Saban would still be coaching.

That 11yr stretch at ND padded those stats. He still didn’t sniff a NC though.

ND isn’t winning any championships. They can’t get the players other teams can due to higher entry criteria. But programs like LSU or Bama will never compete with them academically either.

It was a bad matchup for us more than anything, we couldnt stop the run (especially their QB) and their athletes were just better than ours. Not to mention our qb played his worst game.

Lsu has a staff that's well paid. No excuse why the run game was non existent. I'm so over this crap with BK. The job is too big for him,

Dude. If it wasn’t “too big” for Ed Orgeron, it ain’t “too big” for BK.
You can like Ed O all you want, but he is a straight up fricking moron. My dogs leave piles on the lawn with higher IQs than that yokel.

We had no answer for a mobile QB. This got exposed in the Aggie game. We still couldn’t figure out a scheme for such QBs in the Bama and Gator games.

I’m not sure it was X’ and O’s as much a Jimmy’s and Joes.

Losing our ONLY legit DT was a major blow. It meant our lb’s had more ground to cover. It also meant that the safeties better be sure tacklers in the event that the lb’s were out of position. Lastly, in order to have the safeties available to attempt to clean up a mess (which was NOT their strong suit), the corners were often on an island.

Under those circumstances, a missed tackle didn’t just mean a nice gain, it could (and did on a number of occasions) = 6 points for the opposition.

Hopefully the guys coming in a DT will help fill that void, because it was a MAJOR issue that the roster wasn’t capable of overcoming.

Somehow he was a successful HC for 20 years but gets to LSU and you think he can’t coach. You’re deranged.

We honestly just did not prepare for them to make a QB change and yes, that IS on BK. He “should have” at least somewhat prepared for that possibility.

Though that is not the only reason we lost that game. The offense completely shite the bed in that game. We should have had such a lead going into the half that it crushed any hope A&M had but we didn’t. We let them hang around and honestly, BK got , I won’t say “outcoached” that game but rather he got “outmaneuvered”.

With no NIL, those guys didn’t voluntarily leave Bama. They may have been processed, but the gumps kept who they wanted.

The transfer portal is largely impotent without those Benjamin’s.

Put Alabama players in an Ole Miss uniform and LSU wins 50% of the time.

Its psychological.

Sure they do. They want PT. None of these players want to be “backups” regardless how much they are being paid. I guarantee you none of these players would take 600,000 a year to be a backup over 200,000 a year to be a starter (and players were definitely getting that much prior to NIL).

NIL wasn’t the start of “paying players”. It just made it out in the open.

O couldn't maintain success after 2019. Got too big for his britches with terrible coordinator hires. So I guess you're content with 8-4, with a coach that's making 9-10 million that also has the pick of the litter in LA HS recruiting and great resources? Not sure about you, but my bar is a way higher than that as a fan. Yeah I know, Saban lost 5 games in 2002. Thank him for leaving Mauck in too long in a 36-7 rout of Florida

I hope this really motivates LSU coaches and players to not let the last 2 wins become fool’s gold psychologically. LSU could play great at times and had talent. They couldn’t be consistent mentally or pyschically. Something needs to change in the offseason. This isn’t about talent. It’s about mindset.

So LSU getting blown out by Alabama and blowing out OU is “fool’s gold” and LSU just being inconsistent, but Alabama doing the opposite isn’t a sign of their own inconsistency? Alabama also beat the SEC champs and ranked Missouri 34-0. LSU wasn’t the only time they looked that good. At their best, they were as good as anyone. At their worst, they were pretty bad. Unfortunately LSU got them at their best.

I'm sorry to tell you this if you haven't realized it already but it's only going to get worse with BK as HC.

Why do you say that? Does his coaching history suggest as much? Or maybe you were one of those folks who wanted to keep O or hire Billy Napier?

I would disagree on most instances.
However…
That depends on the circumstances. Are they “buried” on the depth chart, or simply “waiting their turn?”

Bama rarely had people bolt if they had a legit opportunity to see the field.

Taking a pay cut to go to a lesser school and start, versus getting bank at Bama with a chance to start later doesn’t compute for me.
