The Waters pass was not dumb, and not calling a time out isn't a bad call

Hindsight is 20/20, and it's obviously easy to sit back now and say that this and that were wrong, because we lost, but neither were bad decisions.
WATERS PASS:
LSU had a 1 point lead with about 45 seconds left. That meant Arkansas was getting the ball back one more time with a chance to win, or tie, no matter what. Best case for LSU was scoring 2, making Arkansas only be able to tie. What is an easier 2 points than a wide open dunk? That's what we had. It was there. What makes it even an smarter play was the fact that, had it been completed, LSU would have still had time to get the ball back had Arkansas tied the game (same as NBA teams going 2 for 1 to end quarters). It was bad execution, but it wasn't a stupid decision.
NOT CALLING TIME OUT:
If you watched LSU since Wade arrived, he very seldom calls a time out in last second situations. Sure you can say, call a time out and set a play, but calling a time out also let's the defense reset. It's usually better to put your trust in your players to make a play, against a defense who is scrambling, rather than let them get a free reset.
I know this place doesn't take L's well, but Arkansas played their arse off. We almost won despite them shooting out of this world (some was on LSU's poor defense, and some was just lights out shooting). We took their best shot, and almost still pulled it out. This L may be better for this team in the long run.

I’m just going to say it was an okay and he just overthrew it.
Tactician wise- if you convert it it’s 2-1

Sorry but that’s wrong

And if you don’t get the and 1 at best it’s a 3 point lead with 30 plus seconds left. Waters is great, but it was a stupid play.

Not a smart play at all. LSU had been getting fouled in the lane all game. Work for the good shot in that situation.

Stupid pass plain and simple at that point in the game

This is not a reason to not call timeout. It was stupid. Plain and simple. It bit us in the arse today and has before

What's a better shot than a wide open dunk?

Both were dumb as shite. Saying a 50 foot alley oop pass when we had the lead and a full shot clock isn’t dumb, is an absurd statement. You are dead wrong.

That oop is a low percentage make that, even if you make, keeps it a one point score. You’ve got ball and you’re up and the refs have been calling EVERYTHING when going to the hoop.
That was one of the most dumb things I’ve ever seen at the PMAC

I agree with one thing you said, defense was very poor.

None but it wasn't a wide open dunk. What are you talking about?
Posted on 2/2/19 at 7:36 pm to Hold That Tiger 10
It was a stupid decision and an extremely low percentage play. We had the lead, you run the clock down and get a good shot you don’t turn it over with that much time left on the shot clock.

I gave logical reasoning for both scenarios. You are just calling it stupid, without giving any reason for this belief what so ever. Wanna know why? It's because it wasn't stupid, and the only excuse you can give is "because we lost."

Ditto not calling timeout keeps them on their heals and with our talent better chance for win

No timeout is fine, but a 45 foot alley-oop pass was bad. Being aggressive is fine, but the pass was too high of a risk.

I don't hate Waters' idea. It just wasn't a good pass.
I don't hate passing up the timeout, but I would have preferred a set play or at least an inbound to an iso. You can only trust street ball for so long. Eventually, you have to install something to complement the street ball style, especially in the final seconds of a game.

I've seen us execute that play about 20 times. The dunk was open. The pass was off target.

Alley from almost half court is a very high risk play and was unnecessary in that spot.
