Having her at point gives us the opportunity to have her and MW on the floor at the same time. this is what poses the problem for the other team, everyone on the floor can score the ball..
The box scores bear this out. Teams that rely on two or maybe three players to get it done will have real trouble against a team where every starter hits double digits every night.

She was hurt earlier on, she’s getting healthier and playing better.

This team scored 87 points on the top defensive team in the country and won by 17 and you would think they got blown out by the comments on this board.
As I read this thread, my mind drifted, why do we need Mulkey with all the Ranters who know so much more than her about basketball.
Hall of Fame? Ha!

This particular thread is specifically speaking about van lith
Yes, but about 75% of the comments were critical of either Van Lith or the team.

Poa knows her role and is very good at it. She is an important part of this team and we'd really be lost without her, IMO.
HVL spends too much time getting herself boxed into a bad position with her ballhandling skills. BUT, she is improving every week.
This team could be VERY good by March or even mid-February. Unfortunately we play Carolina on Jan 25. Our 7 player rotation is going to have problem defending their 10 player rotation.

Van Lith came to LSU for the same reason Kelly came her; she wants to win a national championship. I give her credit for playing out of position, and she is getting better.

Just an aside re CKM: Coach Jay Johnson was being interviewed & he was asked what it was like being in an athletic dept. with so many NC winning coaches. "I called Coach Mulkey to congratulate her & she answered after one ring: " if you can't play defense I don't have time to talk to you". Implying she didn't know who was calling.

I disagree. As much as everyone wants to rave about SC's depth, if you look at the boxscores of their close games (Utah, Duke, UNC), Dawn played her starters right at around 30 minutes (save for Kitts and Watkins who sub for one another), and the bench players were in single digits for minutes. In other words, Dawn also plays only seven players in the close games. We'll be fine with our seven player rotation, especially considering how much pressure our starting five puts on a defense, with their scoring ability.

HVL is not a true point guard. She was not "recruited" to be a point guard
This could not be further from the truth. Kim has said on multiple occasions that HVL was a direct replacement for Alexis Morris and that she would have to learn the point guard position at LSU. She has even stated that this will help her get into the WNBA if she can master her role as a point guard. I think she is doing great and has improved so much from her arrival. We do not need her as a scorer at all, but if they double or triple Angel, she should be ready for a kick out and let it fly.

We lack a true point guard and ball handler. HVL is fire as the 2 guard.
