Give me a guy who loves LSU and will work his tail off to make LSU successful. Coaching changes are always a crap shoot, Herman would have been too. Jimbo wasn't coming.

Great post. I'm pretty bummed as well, but I really want him to end up being the GOAT LSU coach if it's possible.

Not the hire I wanted. In fact, when I first heard, I let out a yell of frustration.

That being said, now that it's done, time to get behind Coach O. He wasn't my choice, but he is the guy that I would most want to succeed here.

Geaux Tigers!!!

Also don't think for a second we re not gonna open up the purse to surround him with coaching talent. I think O is the type to listen.

Let's see who he fills out the staff with.

Will we be able to recruit nationally like we did with Miles and get players from Georgia, South Carolina, Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma, etc?

Or will we go back to being a regional recruiter again? Miles had connections in a lot of places.

We ll find out. Step 1 lock this one down. Luckily we have Louisiana. There's only so bad our talent level gets.

Also the problem with the lean years is when we left our base and lost Louisiana. That hallman year where we brought in the fb 5 being a good example. Dinardo came in and locked up Louisiana again and immediately started winning again

A lot of teams regress against Bama. We can't keep judging all coaches just based how they do against saban

For all the Negas who hate O and have been trashing the opposition and our response to them...read this again and slowly, remembering how many bad teams stayed in games with LSU over the last six or seven years.

quote:

lastly, continuity. if you thought miles underachieved with his talent, then you saw the convincing wins over outmatched foes as improvement. if you thought miles had gotten complacent and bored, O is about as fired up as they come. if you thought Miles was too conservative with a lead, you watched O step on the neck of every opponent we got a lead on

I appreciate your attempt to polish a turd, but we simply don't know if he wanted this job more than anyone else because we didn't conduct a coaching search.

If we conducted a proper search and then decided on Orgeron, then fine. But that's not what happened. Alleva did not do his job, simple as that. I don't know whether it's because he was too cowardly to go out and put the work in and bring back a more qualified but lesser known candidate because it would've been a difficult sell to the fans, or if he simply is too incompetent to know what makes a good coach.

I'm not mad at O, I'm mad at Alleva. I'm upset that someone so obviously derelict in his duty to LSU football gets to remain gainfully employed.

If the entire universe of available coaches consisted of O, Herman and Jimbo that would be highly accurate,

The troubeling thing to me is that the administration haveing a head start on every other school in the nation didn't seem to put much effort into the process, O may be a better choice of the three for the reason suggested, but why did we limit ourselves to only three posibilities?

Could have had a real coach. Horrible hire, but youre my brother, I already told you this. Herman and Fisher didnt cost 7 million, LSU just went cheap. Herman to Texas for 5 million. And I doubt we can keep Aranda.

Spend the money and the big gun. We didnt and now we have a pea shooter.

By the way, winning a NC brings so much money to the table. Saban winning in 03 increases enrollment by over 10,000 students.

Coach O isnt winning a natty

Good post. Situation still sucks.

Most disappointing aspect is the terribly clueless and inept administration.

One bright side is anybody but Miles is coaching the team now. That's something to be happy about.

I must have dreamed that Alleva said he considered ten or so candidates. How do you know who he did or didn't look at? And remember he has to answer to boosters. Maybe some big hitter wouldn't back say, Fleck, for example.

Thanks for the great post. The one thing you know about Coach is he is all in. We aren't a stepping stone to something else, and his teams are going to leave it all on the field. You know we'll have great athletes because he is a proven recruiter, and because the recruits that want to be here know that he does as well. He will bring maximum effort all the time, and coach with a chip on his shoulder.

Back in the early '70's, when I became addicted to LSU football as a kid, we might not have had All-Americans every year, but we left it all on the field, and Tiger Stadium was the most feared venue in college football. When you came into our house, you knew you were going to get our best. Win or lose, you got our best.

I think O is going to bring it, every day. If you have great players, and we will, and if you are "relentless in pursuit of your goal, and resilient in the face of bad luck and adversity", God help the other team trying to get in your way.

The quote above is directly from Nick Saban's book, and I think Orgeron is going to surprise a lot of people.

There's a lot to be said about a man that has PASSION for what we does.
His attitude and passion will allow him to overcome any shortcomings.
